I turned around to face him. "Thanks for saving my ass." I swallowed my pride.
He shook his head. "No, not that."

"Mia, get up." a voice whimpered near my ear as I felt myself being lifted and shaken a couple of times.
My body was crying out from pain. And I couldn't move or see anything but darkness. For some reason, I was paralysed.
"Mia, please don't do this to me!" a faint and weak voice begged before I felt something warm drop onto my cheek and roll down.
I wanted to move. I wanted to cup his cheek and wipe his tears, or at least tell him that everything was going to be fine. But I couldn't. As if the pain wasn't enough, my heart was also shattering.
Seconds passed like days. My ears began to ring until I couldn't hear anything anymore. However, I started seeing a white dot.
My body was slowly becoming numb as I tried to swim back up towards it, hoping that it would free me from such misery. But as I did, I felt myself sinking further into the darkness, while the light got farther away. And before I knew it, it switched off.
"DON'T LEAVE ME!"

Hey, Mia. Wake up!
I snapped my eyes open only to meet a burning bright light overhead. I blinked a couple of times and gazed away from the ceiling, only for my senses to come crashing back.
With the familiar scent of hand sanitiser, I couldn't help but wonder what that constant beeping sound was, matching my sharp breaths.
My eyes lazily scanned around me, searching for any sign of life. Yet it met with nothing but a heart machine, a serum stand and some wires attached to me here and there. I kept following the wires only to catch what I assume to be my body wearing nothing but a blue thin dress that reached my mid-thigh, showing off my bony and skinny legs. My arms were just as bad, I was terrified to see how my face looked.
What's going on?
All of a sudden, the click of a doorknob caught me off guard. I quickly scanned for the door and when I found it, I saw it sliding open.
