"Aren't you going to say anything?"
I turned around to face him. "Thanks for saving my ass." I swallowed my pride.
He shook his head. "No, not that."
I looked at him funny...

After four hours of practice outside on the field, the whole team made it back inside dripping in pig sweat. I wasted no time jumping into the showers.
I finished quickly and got out after putting on my boxers, only to walk back to the locker room, drying off my upper body with my towel.
I passed by a couple of teammates, doing the same as me, and let myself inside the room. That's when I saw only Joshua sitting on one of the benches and putting on his socks.
I walked straight towards my locker and unlocked it, only to pull out my clothes and put them on. Once I got dressed, I slammed my locker shut while shaking my head to dry off my wet hair. Then, I sat down next to Joshua and started drying it off properly with my towel.
However, Luke was still missing at the moment, probably still in the showers.
"So, are you gonna tell me what's going on?" Joshua started while putting on his shoes, causing me to let out a heavy blow.
I put the towel away and looked down at the ground for a moment. I was trying not to think much about it during practice. But not that someone mentioned it, memories and scenes flashed right in front of my eyes and I couldn't do anything to stop them from coming.
And so, I snapped.
"Josh, I can't stay away from her any longer! I-I just can't!" words stuttered out of my mouth as I struggle to stay calm.
Suddenly, my vision started to get blurry while I look down and my legs started to jump in stress. I was a minute away from getting another anxiety attack and I was desperately in need of some pills to calm me down.
I began blinking rapidly to regain my normal vision back, only to feel my whole body tense up. Suddenly, I started getting hot. "Ever since that son of bitch laid eyes on her, I just can't-..." anger started possessing me instead and I lost track of words.
As a result, I felt a hand on my shoulder. "I get it." I glanced to my left and saw Joshua giving me a concerned look.
"Calm down," he told me. "Just breathe slowly..."
I took a long and deep breath while shutting my eyes before breathing out. And I kept on repeating that until I gradually came at ease again.
"Okay, good." he offered a small smile. "Now, tell me,"
I frowned as I stare straight at basically nothing. "It's just, every time I see her walking in the hallway or sitting in the cafeteria, I just feel so empty!" I tried to explain. But as I hear myself talking, I feel myself sinking deeper into a black hole. "I know she's not dead but seeing her looking at me as if she doesn't recognize me, makes me feel that she is."
"And it's all my fault!"
"Hey! It's not your fault!" Joshua implied like a protective mother.
