It was early afternoon. The sun crept through your window and filled your room with its warm light. You were currently curled up on your bed reading your favourite book. Even though you were only seven you still loved to read and often read for hours each day. Your fingers eagerly brushed against the corner of the page as you continued through your favourite part . You were just about to turn the page when you heard your mothers voice call you for lunch.
You happily jumped off your bed and trotted towards your bedroom door but stopped in front of your mirror to take a look at yourself. Bright (E/C) eyes that were filled with wonder stared back at you. You wore a small dress that went just above your knees, a cardigan and a pair of long gloves. Your (H/C) hair was down and shone in the light that filled your room. You smiled at your reflection before opening your door and skipping down the stairs and to the kitchen. When you arrived there your mother placed a sandwich on the table before looking at you and frowning. "(Y/n) you know what I've told you about wearing your gloves in the house." She said whilst kneeling down to your height. " I know mum but I-" You tried to say before she cut you off. "No buts (y/n)... you have to learn to accept who you are, but until you do you don't have to cover your hands up in the house." She said before planting a kiss on your forehead and standing up to continue making her own lunch. You sighed and reluctantly starting pulling off your gloves revealing the large spots of coloured skin that contrasted from your usual (s/c) skin. You had had these birth marks all your life and were constantly picked on for it. Eventually you began to hate them and yourself.
You took a seat at your table and eagerly bit into your sandwich. You didn't realise how hungry you were because before you knew it you had already finished eating. A small giggle came from the kitchen and your saw your mum smiling at you. "You certainly were hungry weren't you?" She asked with a smile. You just vigorously nodded your head and wiped a few crumbs from your face. You stayed sat down and watched as your mother went into a cupboard and pulled out a large piece of your favourite cake. Your face immediately lit up as you bounced excitedly in your chair. Your mother seemed amused by your excitement as she placed the cake in front of you and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear. You immediately started to dig in to the cake and savoured every single bite of the delicious food.
Once you finished you took your plate into the kitchen and said a quick 'thank you' to your mum before heading upstairs again to carry on reading your book. Just as you were leaving the kitchen your mother called out to you and said "don't spend too much time upstairs, your fathers coming home tonight!" A huge grin immediately spread across your face as you thought of finally being able to see your dad again. Your dad was usually away on business trips with work or would often stay late at night to earn extra money. You loved your dad dearly and were glad to have two strong people in your life to look up to.
You made your way back upstairs and continued were you left off in your book. At this point you had almost finished the last chapter when you heard your mother call you downstairs again. You sat your book carefully on your bed side table and began to walk downstairs again. When you reached the living room you saw your mother sat on the couch with a two large bowls of popcorn and your favourite movie about to start on T.V. She turned around and smiled at you, then patted the spot on the couch next to her signalling for you to sit there. You happily skipped over to sit down next to her and started the film you loved so much.
About half way through the film you ended up falling asleep curled up in the corner of the couch. You were awoken by the sound of knocking at your door. Sleepily, you started to open your eyes and glanced out of the kitchen window to see the sky turning a light shade of pink and pastel orange from the early sunset. You sat up and looked to your side to see your mother sleeping soundly next to you. The steady sound of knocking brought you to your senses again and made you jump slightly. A small, but bright smile spread across your face as the realisation hit you. "DADS HOME!!!!!" You shouted excitedly wich caused your mother to be woken from her slumber. "What's all the noise about (y/n)?" She asked, slightly annoyed at your loud nature. Ignoring her question you hastily rushed to the front door, barely able to keep in all your excitment as you twisted the brass door knob. However your smile slowly curled down into a confused frown as you weren't met with the comforting face of your father. Instead a young women with short brown hair and bright green eyes smiled down at you. She looked like any typical women, however hiding shyly behind her legs a pale boy with chocolate brown eyes and messy brown locks stared back at you looking equally as confused as you did.
(What did you think of the first chapter? Sorry if it was a little short!)
