"God Toby...can't you be a little more gentle?" You panted, sweat trickling down your forehead. Toby moved again causing you to grunt and let out a long, slow exhale. "S-sorry (y/n) b-but I-it's necessary. J-just hold o-out a-a little longer o-okay?" You gasped slightly feeling Toby press harder down against you, a tingling sensation ran down your legs. "T-Toby, I cant!" Toby sighed next to your ear before removing himself off your trembling form and standing up, raising an eyebrow at you and folding his arms. "Y-you're s-seriously out o-of s-shape (y/n). H-how do y-you e-expect to go o-on m-missions I-if you c-can't e-e-even perform basic st-stretches?"

"Yeah I know...but I'm getting better everyday!" You beamed, huffing to yourself as you sat up and stretched out your back. Ever since your training had began, Toby had been making you do extreme stretches everyday to improve your flexibility and reflexes. It was definitely working but still, it was sooooo tiring. Toby chuckled at your expression. "T-that I-is t-true. B-but even s-s-so you s-should s-still work h-hard e-everyday. I don't want you getting hurt on a job." You pursed your lips into a thin line and looked at the ground. "I know Toby. Thanks for doing this with me everyday, you must be getting pretty bored of me by this point. You giggled, twisting a piece of grass between your fingers.

"N-nonsense, I c-could n-never g-get bored o-of s-s-spending t-time with my f-favourite p-person  in t-the w-world!" You could practically hear the smirk in his voice and looked up to see him wearing a smug expression. You tilted your head to the side, a lopsided grin spreading across your face. "Oh really now. You're not just saying that to be nice are you?" Toby chuckled, moving in front of you and crouching down to your level. "I-I'd n-never lie t-to y-you (y/n) s-so stop t-t-teasing me. I t-think y-you already know t-the a-answer to t-that q-question." He leaned close to you, his smirk growing by the second.

You never broke eye contact, not even for a second, almost getting lost in Toby's chocolatey brown eyes. "You're right, but, I'm not sure if you're my favourite person in the entire world." You smugly said, following his lead and leaning in slightly. Toby's hand moved, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear before trailing down the side of your face. His thumb and forefinger gently held your chin, tilting it up a little. "Hmmm? I-Is t-that s-so?" The closeness made your face flush and your breathing speed up steadily. "Y-your e-expression is telling a-a d-different s-story (y/n), w-wouldn't w-want me t-to get t-the wrong idea w-with a-all that b-blushing y-you're d-doing."

"Well it's good to see you two are getting along." A deep yet slightly raspy voice said from behind you both. Toby immediately let go of your face and rushed to his feet, swiftly pulling you up along with him. He clutched onto your arm and turned to see who the voice came from. "J-jack, y-you s-scared me. Y-you really need t-to s-stop sneaking a-around so m-much." Eyeless jack tilted his head, brown tresses falling to the side along with pools of black tar that oozed out of his eye sockets and trailed down his mask. "Sneaking around is kinda my thing so..." He trailed off at the end. You couldn't exactly see his eyes but you got the strong feeling he was looking at you.

This intense feeling made you shrink slightly, feeling like prey under his predatory 'gaze'. Toby seemed to notice this as his grip around your arm tightened a little. "Wh-what d-do y-you even w-want Jack?" Toby's tone was mildly hostile but he kept his nerve. Jack chuckled darkly, shifting his feet. "Slenderman wants to see you both back at the mansion. He has a job for you." A job, already? "A j-job a-already?" Toby voiced your thoughts, a shocked expression crossing over his face.

Jack hummed nodding his head. "B-but (y/n) I-isn't ready yet. S-shes o-only half w-way t-through her t-training." Jack shrugged, turning back around and heading in the direction from where he came which surprisingly wasn't the way to the mansion. You shot tiny a confused glance before pulling yourself out of his grasp. "We better get going and see what he wants." You said beginning to walk away. You suddenly stopped as Toby grabbed your hand. You turned to meet his gaze, his chocolate brown eyes held a look of concern.

"A-are you sure y-you w-want to d-do this (y/n)?" Toby asked, his voice laced with worry. You gave Toby's hand a gentle squeeze and smiled. "Mhm, yeah I think so." Toby pursed his lips at your response, clearly not satisfied. You chuckled and reached up, moving a strand of hair away from his eyes. "Trust me Toby, I'll be fine."

—————————————————————————————————————————————————

It was night. The moon bloomed in the night sky like a single pale rose among thorns, casting pools of light down upon the glim forest floor. You and Toby were crouched amongst the darkness, your back pressed against a tree while Toby crouched in front of you, one arm placed next to your head as he peered round the trunk of the tree. Toby's pale face mimicked the moon, glowing in the darkness. The streams of moonlight illuminated his features making every inch of his face appear almost godlike. Your eyes trailed down to his lips which were parted slightly in concentration. You bit your own, every ounce of your being wanted to reach out and touch him. Not now (y/n). Wrong place, wrong time.

The mission Slenderman has given you was quite simple. Apparently there was a man living in a cabin near the woods that had been getting a little too close to the mansion. All you had to do was find him, and kill him. You decided to take a look along with Toby seeing a small cabin in the middle of a clearing, the lights shining through the window contrasted to the gloomy atmosphere. Toby tapped your shoulder before leaning closer towards your ear, his breath making you shiver. "T-the l-lights are st-still on s-so he m-must be a-awake. We'll w-wait for t-them t-to go o-out and m-make o-our move then." You nodded, understanding his instructions.

When you turned back to look at the cabin you saw that the lights were no longer present. "Let's go then." You whispered back, pushing him away ever so slightly and standing. You moved with the darkness, slinking past trees and bushes like a shadow. In an instant you were at the door. Toby carefully tried the handle and obviously it was locked. He motioned for you to try the window and with a silent tug, it was open.

Toby went in first, dropping through the window with cat like agility. He helped you in next, fully aware of how clumsy you could be. Of course he didn't mind your clumsiness, it was one of the many things he loved about you, but in situations like this it was best he helped you out. Once you were inside your eyes scanned round the small room seeing a sofa, a radio, a bear skin rug and various animal heads decorating the walls. The whole place emitted a creepy aura that made your hair stand in end.

"I think we should check all the rooms. I'll start with that one over th-"

WHACK

A sickening crunch echoed throughout the room followed by a muffled yell. Or at least you think that's what it was. What was that crunching sound? And that shout... A sharp pain suddenly swept throughout your head along with a warm, wet feeling. Your hand moved up to clutch your head but when you drew it back it was covered in red. Blood. Your blood. "T-Toby?" You stuttered, vision blurry as you turned to look for him. To your surprise he was on the floor fighting a losing battle with a man twice his size. I have to do something.

You spotted a baseball bat a few metres away from where Toby was wrestling your attacker. Stumbling towards it you grasped in in your blood soaked hands. With a determined yell you swung it at the mans head with all your might causing him to stumble and get off Toby. Toby gasped and coughed desperately trying to get his breath back. The man approached you, a livid look chiselled into his rugged face. You raised the bat again, taking up a fighting stance. "S-stay back, I'm- I'm warning you." You slurred, bringing the bat down towards his head. He caught it with ease and tossed it aside, roughly grabbing a fistful of your hair and throwing you to the ground.

You yelped as he harshly got on top of you, hand clasped tightly around your throat cutting off your air supply. "You filth! I know what you are, I've seen you all in that house following the ways of that thing." His grip tightened around your neck, your hands desperately clawing at his face. "Devils! That's what you are! The lot of you need to burn in hell where you belong!" Black splotches began to cloud your vision, you could feel yourself slipping out if consciousness. "N-no" you choked out, tears beginning to flow freely down your cheeks.

Then suddenly, it all stopped. The mans grip loosened from around your neck as his body slumped to the floor. It was only then that you noticed the bright orange hatchet buried deep into his skull. Your breathing was shallow, you couldn't fight it anymore. As your eyes slowly closed the last thing you saw was Toby's bruised face, and then darkness.
