Toby's POV

I ran back down the path out of the woods as fast as I could. The wind wiped through my hair and stung my eyes as I ran. Branches of trees and sharp brushes scratched agains my face and legs. But I didn't care. It's not like I could feel the pain anyway. Even though I couldn't feel physical pain, on the inside I was dying. The words that she said to me still burned into my mind as I replayed the event over and over again. I remembered seeing the look on her face after I threw that rock at Trevor. The bastard deserved it but I never intended to make (y/n) feel that scared. Tears began to stream down my face once again as I remembered her words. 'STAY AWAY FROM ME YOU MOSTER!' I started to slow down as the trees began thining out and the path became wider. I stood at the edge of the woods for a while and cast my eyes down to the floor. Will she ever see me the same way again? I thought to myself as I continued along the pavement and back to my house.

When I arrived at my house I caught a glimpse of my reflection in the window and saw that my eyes were puffy and red from crying and my clothes were scratched and dirty. My hair looked like a birds nest with a few twigs and leaves sticking out in every direction possible. I took a deep breath and opened the door to my house. As I entered the living room the strong scent of alcohol immediately hit me, making my nose wrinkle in disgust. I looked around the living room to see cans of beer littered around the floor and my dad passed out on the couch snoring loudly. I scoffed at him and muttered a few curses under my breath before heading upstairs to talk to Lyra. In times like this it was always Lyra who was there for me. I made my way to her bedroom door and lightly knocked on it. I heard a muffled 'come in' and opened her door. She was sat on her bed with her laptop on. When she noticed it was me a bright smile came across her face, but after realising my current state it immediately changed into a concerned expression.

She set her laptop to the side and stretched her arms out pulling me into an embrace. We just sat them in silence for what seemed like hours. My head was rested on her shoulder but I didn't return the hug, I was too exhausted. She began to stroke my hair reassuringly and patted my back a few times. "Did dad upset you?" She questioned in a concerned voice whilst looking down at me. I didn't have the strength to speak up, plus I felt like if I did I wouldn't be able to hold back my tears. Instead I just shook my head gently. "What happened Toby?" She said whilst gently pushing my shoulders away to break the hug and look into my eyes. I kept my gaze cast down on my hands that were trembling and let stray parts of my hair fall over my eyes. "(Y-y/n) h-hurt m-me." I managed to mumble before swallowing the lump that was is my throat. A sad and almost disappointed look washed over Lyra's face as she pulled me into another hug. This time I hugged her back tightly and began uncontrollably crying into her shoulder. She began to stroke my hair again which calmed me down a bit until I was able to reel back some of my tears. "How about me you and mum go for a drive to that cafe you like so much? I'll buy for all of us and take us there as well." She said whilst smiling down at me I nodded my head and wiped my tears away, getting ready to head out with my mum and Lyra, hopping to forget all about the incident with (y/n).

I sat patiently in the car waiting for Lyra to take her purse from the house. When she finally came out of the house she looked like she was buzzing with excitement. She jogged over to the car and got inside the drivers seat ready to start our small journey. I can't remember the last time we were all together like this I thought to myself as the car began to rumble beneath me. During the car ride we passed many scenes that reminded me of passed memories when everything was ok with my dad and with...(y/n). Lyra and my mum were laughing at something when she turned to me with a huge grin plastered on her face. "Hey Toby! Remember that time when w-" she didn't get to finish her sentence. In fact, that was the last sentence she ever said. A large van had crashed into the side of the car sending us spiralling across the road and into a lamp post. I couldn't feel anything...and it pissed me off. It pissed me off to know that Lyra, my beloved older sister, was suffering so much pain and I couldn't even feel a scratch. I turned my head to look at her and I immediately regretted it. Pieces of glass were jabbed into all parts of her body and her legs were twisted in inhuman ways. The air bag had inflated too late and was now harshly pressed against her stomach. Her eyes were closed but her chest was slowly rising and falling indicating that she was still breathing. Patches of blood stained her ripped clothes and blonde hair and seeped through the car seat. I moved my hand to try and reach out to her until my vision began to blur and I was swallowed by darkness.
