All you could do was stand there and stare deeply into the chocolate brown eyes of the pale boy. He also continued to stare into your (e/c) orbs not breaking eye contact for even a second. You two stayed like that for what felt like hours until you felt the reassuring hand of your mother press onto your shoulder. "May I help you?" Your mother asked with a smile directed to the green eyed woman. "Sorry to intrude you and your daughter, my name is Connie Rogers and this is my son Toby." She said with a slight smile gesturing towards the shy boy. "We just moved to the neighbourhood along with my husband and daughter." You directed your attention to Mrs Rogers when she started speaking but you could still feel a pair of eyes staring at you. "Nice to meet you! My names (mothers name) (L/n) and this is my daughter (y/n)." Your mother said whilst out stretching her hand for Connie to shake. She happily shook your mothers hand before bringing her hand back to reassuringly pat her son on the head. "Would you like to come in for a cup of coffee?" Your mum politely asked. Connie responded with a small 'thanks' before she entered your house and sat down at the table with Toby following closely behind her. "(Y/n) why don't you go and play with Toby upstairs whilst me and Connie chat?" Your mother suggested. Toby seemed a little unsure about the idea but you were excited to see if you could make a new friend. You nodded and turned around to grab Toby's hand and dragged him upstairs to your room.
You opened the door to your room letting him inside before you gently closed it again. You noticed that he was twitching and shaking a bit but you thought he might just be nervous. "Hi! My names (y/n) welcome to ur neighbourhood!" You said with a cheerful grin spread across your face. "M-my name T-Toby n-nice to m-meet you." He stuttered with a small smile. He outstretched his hand for you to take and you gladly took it, forgetting about the marks on your hands. Toby's gaze shifted from your eyes to your hands as he noticed the marks and frowned. You quickly snatched your hands away and hid them behind your back as your eyes moved to look at the ground. "S-SORRY I-I D-DIDNT ME-MEAN TO O-OFFEND Y-YOU I WAS J-JUST C-CURIOUS!" Toby stated quite loudly while he frantically waved his hands in front of his face. You couldn't help but let out a small giggle at how panicked he had gotten. "It's ok" you said with a bit of a sad smile "I'm just a bit self conscious about them" you said while looking down at your hands. "Y-you s-shouldn't be! I t-think I-it's r-really c-cool!" Toby said with a large grin and a sparkle in his eyes.
For the last fifteen minutes you had been showing Toby all of your favourite features of your room , including your crystal collection. You were really passionate about collecting crystals and Toby seemed to take note of that. You were really enjoying his company but you started to feel tired due to it being late in the evening. Toby stopped looking at your vast range of books and wandered over to the window sill. The sky had turned a dark shade of red with swirls of orange and deep pink. It looked like the sky was on fire and you and Toby were completely mesmerised by the soothing colours and patterns. "Hey Toby?" You whispered. "Hmm?" He hummed in response, turning his head to face you. You inhaled deeply whilst closing your eyes, then you turned and faced him with the biggest smile ever recorded. "We're friends right?" You asked him tilting your head to the side slightly, your (h/l) (h/c) hair falling on one side of your face. "O-of course w-we a-are!" He replied excitedly with a huge grin and joy filled eyes.
The sky eventually faded to a deap dark blue with twinkling stars decorating it like sequins on a blanket. You and Toby walked downstairs to see your mum and Connie laughing happily and making small talk. Connie stood up from her chair and took her cup into the kitchen. "Thanks so much for having us round (mothers name) it's been the most fun I've had in ages" Connie said whilst smiling down at her son. "Y-yeah m-me to!" Toby chimed whilst going to stand next to his mother. "We'll meet up again when we've finished unpacking and you can meet my daughter and husband." Connie said as she took hold of her sons hand and led him to the front door. "Sounds like a Plan!" Your mother said with a wave. "SEE YOU LATER TOBY!!!" You called out of the door to your new friend. "B-BYE (Y-Y/N)" He called back to you as he waved. You smiled to yourself and closed the front door to prevent the heat from escaping your house. You headed toward the staircase when suddenly you heard your front door open again. You looked back and immediately your heart was filled with joy. Standing in the doorway was the person you couldn't wait to see. Your father. You sprinted into his arms and and hugged him a tightly as you could. "I MISSED YOU SO MUCH DAD!" You shouted whilst in his embrace. He laughed lowly and squeezed you tightly. "I missed you too princess." He said whilst ruffling your hair with his hand.
In that night everything was perfect for you. Your beloved dad came home with the news that he'd gotten a promotion, which meant no more long business trips. On top of that you'd made a friend that would stay with you for ever! Everything was perfect... for now.
