What could go wrong?

"Uuugghhh...so bored" You groaned sliding down from the bed and into a heap on the floor. The floor was cold and hard but nothing bothered you anymore. You'd waited. And waited for Toby to return with your things but he still hadn't come back. You propped yourself up on your elbows and looked at the plain clock that hung by itself on the wall. 9:45. Toby had been gone for nearly five hours. FIVE HOURS.

After your terrifying encounter with one of Toby's 'friends' you had chosen to stay hidden safely in the room you had been given until your twitching friend came back. However it was becoming increasingly hard. You were a curious person by nature and you were dying to explore every nook and cranny of the mysterious mansion. Not to mention you were starving. To pass the time you had decided to try and sleep. But this soon proved useless as everytime you closed your eyes the haunting image of your parents death was displayed in front of you. So, instead you had  decided to sit on the windowsill and count the amount of stars that made up funny patterns or shapes. That one looks like a pizza, you thought to yourself, letting out a sigh at the thought of food.

You were suddenly torn from your food fantasies at the sound of someone or something shuffling outside your door. You turned your attention to the door and saw a shadow obscuring some of the light that filtered through the cracks. You decided to wait a few moments, thinking that they would leave, however to your dismay the intimidating figure stayed rooted outside your door. More shuffling could be heard as you spotted the door knob start to twist and turn as if it was trying to enter. Luckily you'd remembered to lock the door. Your heart rate quickened as the stranger persistently tried to open the door, clearly becoming agitated. Then it suddenly stopped. A small sigh of relief escaped your lips as you thought it was over.

"I can smell you in there." A raspy voice called out from behind the door. Excuse me, what the fuck.... you thought frowning to yourself. A quiet scrapping sound filled the room as the thing scratched at your door. It'll go away! I just have to wait for Toby! By this point the only thing you could focus on was the sound of your heart loudly pounding through your ears. "I can hear your heartbeat." The voice said, a smirk almost evident in its tone. "I bet you taste delicious...come on out, I won't bite!" The scratches on the door became louder as did the voice. What the hell is going on!

"EJ! What the h-hell are you d-doing?!" Toby?

"Just checking in on the new meat." The voice that you could now identify as 'EJ' replied sounding slightly startled.

"Well, dont. She's had a rough day and she dosent need creeps like you and Jeff bothering her." You took note of the fact that Toby didn't stutter once during his confrontation with the so called EJ. You heard EJ huff before shuffling down the corridor. A soft knock resonated from the other side of the door. "(Y/n) o-open up its m-me." Toby softly called. You shimmied off of the windowsill and landed less than gracefully on the floor with a thud. "Is e-everything o-okay in there?" He asked, concern lacing his voice.

"Mmhmm I'm fine! Just hang on a second!" You called back, pulling yourself together, before opening the door revealing a worried looking Toby carrying multiple bags on his shoulders. He brushed past you slightly as he entered your room, shutting the door behind him. Orange tinted goggles hung loosely around his neck. You also noticed a pair of twin hatchets swinging securely on either side of his belt. You immediately tensed up at the sight of the sharp weapons. Toby noticed that you had become uneasy and gave you a reassuring smile whilst setting your things down.

"I g-grabbed everything I c-could. Police cars w-were still s-s-swarmed around y-your house so it was p-pretty difficult to g-get o-out unnoticed."

"I'm sorry to be such a burden on you." You mumbled, eyes cast on the ground. Not only had Toby gone out of his way for you, but he'd also risked getting caught by the authorities. If that did end up happening, the guilt would crush you. The sound of quiet laughter made you turn your eyes back to Toby. "D-dont worry (y/n)! I g-go through w-worse o-on a daily b-b-basis!" Toby's gentle laughs instantaneously lifted your spirits and sent flutters through your stomach. It made you so happy to see him smile after all that you'd both been through. "I hope t-the o-others didn't g-give you t-too m-much trouble w-while I was g-gone."

"Don't worry! It was nothing that I couldn't handle!" Your cheered, flashing a goofy smile and striking a confident pose. Toby giggled slightly at your odd gesture.

"Y-your so cute (y/n)" Toby giggled, pulling you into a warm and longing hug. Your face immediately heated up as you found yourself unable to process his words. He thinks I'm cute? After a few second of stiffness you eventually relaxed, wrapping your arms around his torso to return the hug. Toby rested his chin on top of your head and held you softly around the waist. "God, I m-missed y-you so m-much." You felt him mumble into your hair as a sigh escaped his lips.

"I missed you too Rogers." You replied squeezing him tighter. Toby reluctantly pulled away but kept one arm slung over your shoulders.

"W-well, I g-gues I-it's time y-you meet t-the r-rest of the gang h-huh?" He said sounding half excited half concerned. You looked into his mesmerising chocolate brown eyes and sighed. You knew that Toby would do anything for you, and of course you'd do anything for him. So, although every part of you screamed for you to stay in the safety of your room, you knew deep down you had to walk out of that door, down those stairs and confront whatever atrocities awaited you. I'll do it for Toby. You told yourself.

You confidently took his hand in yours and stepped out of the room. Taking Toby slightly by surprise you began to drag him down the hallway towards the top of the staircase. Turning back to look at him, you gave him a nervous smile and an awkward thumbs up. "What could possibly go wrong, right?"
