"Oh lord..."
Only a few short moments after Slenderman had asked you the ridiculous question of 'what are your favourite weapons' you had been whisked away and placed in-front of a small shed round the back of the mansion. Toby had been the one to unlock it keeping close watch of your reactions and expressions. And unfortunately for you, you had a terrible poker face. You stood peering into the open shed, mouth agape at the large array of weapons ranging from knives, to swords, to axes and even...whips? Let's skip the last one.
"Take your time deciding which weapon suits you (y/n). Once you've finished, Toby will show you how to properly wield it and you will begin your training" you nodded your head in understanding at Slendermans clear words. "I'll leave you to it then." He patted your shoulder lightly and left as silent as a cat. You scanned the shed once more before closing your eyes letting out a deep sigh. You really were exhausted. Toby's brows furrowed at your action.
"H-hey, you d-don't h-have to do t-this if y-you f-feel u-u-uncomfortable. I-I'm sure w-we can find y-you a-a different j-job?" He spoke softly as if to not offend you. You shook your head at his kind words. "No I think I'll be fine, but thanks for worrying..." you tried to sound strong but your voice came out as a quiet whimper. You heard Toby sigh next to you. "B-but y-you don't look f-fine! (Y/n) j-just l-let m-"
"I said I'm FINE!" You snapped at him. Toby's eyes widened visibly in surprise. It was rare for you to lash out like that which only made him worry more. "You're o-obviously n-not fine (y-y/n), I'm o-only t-trying t-to h-help."
"I know Toby but you need to let me decide things for myself. You treat me like a child and in all truth it's...it's embarrassing, especially around the others. They're all stone cold, emotionless killers and compared to them I'm nothing! I already feel like I don't fit in here and the fact that you make me feel like a scared, lost puppy doesn't help!" Your fists were clenched at your sides and your face was flushed with anger. Toby stood looking at the ground. His dark brown hair was falling across his face obscuring his vision. Your breath hitched in your throat at the sight of him. "Oh Toby, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to offend you I only-"
Suddenly, Toby started to walk towards you. His steps were slow and heavy, making the floorboards of the shed creak with each stride he took. You opened your mouth to say something but nothing came out. You were...scared? Upon instinct you began to back away from him until you felt your back press against the cold back wall of the shed. Toby towered over you, both hands placed at either side of your head caging you in. His breathing was steady in contrast to your own.
"T-Toby?" You stuttered, your voice barely above a whisper. Now you could clearly see his face, his hair was slightly disheveled, his eyes were half lidded and held a look you'd never seen from him before. He leaned down closer to you, his breath tickling your face.
"(Y/n)..." he spoke as one of his hands moved to gently cup your heated cheek, his thumb ran circles across your cheekbone. "I'm sorry I made you feel this way but I hope you can understand that I only want to protect you. The rest of my new 'family' aren't like me. They will hurt you if they get the chance, and I can't let that happen. You're all I have left (y/n)...I can't lose you again." His voice was firm yet as soft as butter. While he spoke his fingers traced gentle lines across your jawline and eventually across your lips. Your hands desperately gripped at his shirt.
His touch was heaven and sent shivers down your spine. You sighed dreamily, leaning further into his touch which only seemed to push him over the edge. His hand moved upwards and slinked through your (h/l) hair, his fingers curled and uncurled massaging your scalp slightly. It was all too much. What the hell is happening. Your attention was once again caught as Toby's face inched closer to yours. A light pink hue dusted his pale cheeks as he continued to move closer, moving past your face and towards your ear.
"I need you to stay safe (y/n). I need you here with me." He whispered, his breath on your ear made your hairs stand on end. You nodded your head in understanding. "Promise me (y/n), I need to hear you say it!" Now he sounded desperate and in all truth it broke your heart to hear him like that. You placed your hands on his shoulders and gently pushed him back. His eyes were sad almost pleading for your answer. You reached up, brushed a strand of hair away from his face and smiled as brightly as you could.
"I promise Toby...I'll never leave you." Once again, he leaned down. You had no idea what to expect. For a moment his lips hovered over yours, sending shivers and sparks throughout your entire body. Is he going to kiss me? Should I lean in? Oh god I don't know what to do! Then...he hesitated. His eyes scanned every inch of your face before he moved his lips and pressed them gently to the corner of your mouth. The action was innocent, yet it left you wanting more.
Giving you a lopsided smirk, he straightened up and walked towards the shed door. "I-I'll l-leave you t-to choose your o-own w-weapon. M-meet m-me outside o-once you're done." You just stood there gawking at him. That's all he has to say after that?! Your expression only made his smirk widen. "Y-you look s-so c-cute w-when you're c-confused." And with that statement, he shot you a cheeky wink and disappeared.
When you were 100% sure that Toby had gone you slumped down against the wall and covered your face in embarrassment. "Uuuuuggghhhh...what the hell was that?!" You groaned into your hands, mentally slapping yourself for being so awkward. Removing your hands from your face, you stood up and turned to look at the wide range of weapons that glistened in dimly lit enclosure. You traced a finger along a particularly sharp looking blade, careful not to cut yourself. For the millionth time today, you sighed.
Well whatever it was, it's over now...and I have a weapon to choose.
Whhhooooppp next chapter is out! To answer any future questions...yes there will be lemon further into the story ;) Also i don't know if you've noticed but I have this theory that Toby loses his stutter whenever he's talking about something that he finds serious. Enjoy!
