I walk past my boyfriend's house one night. It's silent and everything seems still. I stop in front of the house and look up at it. I admire the moonlight shining on the rooftop and listen to the wind chime tinkling in the soft breeze. Suddenly I hear a loud yell coming from inside. I burst inside and run up the stairs. Opening a door, I peer in. He's here. He's alive. His mom grabs his head and snaps his neck. I can hear the bones in he's neck crack. I try to run to him but I'm being held my another zombie. I let out a scream and try to get away.

"No!" I scream, "Don't take me! Don't take me!" I get chills as I feel cold hands wrap around my neck. The grip tightens and it happens too fast. Everything goes white and I jerk my head up and look around. Abbi and Addi are looking at me from the front seats of the Ford.

"Celeste," Addi says, "Are you okay? You're sweating like crazy and you were talking in your sleep.

I sit up, "I'm fine, Addi."

"Are you sure? You were saying something like 'don't take me'..."

I look out the window, "I'm sure. It was just a bad dream. I would rather not talk about it."

Addi nods slowly and plugs her phone in to listen to some music. The first song that comes on is Awake. Abbi grabs the phone from Addi, yanks the plug out, then chucks it into the back of the truck. Addi retrieves it.

"Fine," she mutters, "I'll put on something else." They both laugh and Abbi looks at me through the mirror.

"I haven't seen you smile in like a year, Celeste. When are you going to get over him? You always look depressed and angry. Me and Addi miss the old, fun , energetic you." I ignore her and continue looking out the window.

"Abbi's right, Celeste," said Addi, "He's gone. You always told us to focus on the good, now you need to, too."

I whirled to face them, "And what's so good about any of this!? Nothing is good anymore! Those stupid zombies have taken everything!!! How the heck can anything possibly be good!?" I roll down the window, climb out carefully, and get in the bed of the truck as Abbi continues to drive. I lay down and watch the gray sky. I decide to rest my eyes.

                                                                        .        .       .

A few hours later, the truck comes to a stop at a gas station. Abbi fills up the truck while Addi goes inside to get food and drinks. She comes out with bags of food.

"Guys," she yells across the parking lot, "I feel so cool! I didn't pay anything for this!"

"Addi, you know you don't - never mind," Abbi says. She looks at me. I'm sitting with my arm wrapped around my legs. "Are you going to come back into the truck?"

I shake my head, "No. I think I'll stay out here for a little while longer." Abbi nods and gets back in the truck.

As we drive for many more miles, we come across something. Abbi and Addi jump out with their guns and run over to a large group of zombies. I stand up and Addi turns to me.

"Don't worry about it! We got it!"

I watch as they get closer to the group. They shoot every zombie and before they can get back up, Abbi and Addi run back to the truck with three guys. They all climb in ,one of them stopping to look at me before getting in. I pay no attention to him, though. Abbi drives away quickly, leaving the zombies far behind as they struggle to get back up. I hear a deep voice say something that I couldn't quite make out, but then I hear Abbi say,

"Yeah, just leave her be. She...um, she went through something...tragic, so don't even think about getting with her!"

I stay in the back until we get to our destination: the mountains
