A Zombie's Heart

Chapter 3

We stop at a campsite and the boys get out and start setting up the tent that Addi took from the gas station. Addi runs over and starts flirting with one of them.
     Abbi steps into the bed of the truck where I'm still sitting. "I hope you don't mind they're coming with us. They don't have weapons or anything to protect themselves."
     I look at her. "We don't even know them. Where they're from, what kind of people they are..."
     Abbi looks over and points to each of them. "The blonde one that's the best looking is Yoongi, that one that Addi is flirting with is Jin, and the one with the dark hair is Taehyung. They flew here from Korea hoping that it was in better conditions here in America..." We look over at them.
     Addi runs over to us. "Guys, Jin is so funny and super cute! We should have them with us!"
     Abbi and Addi both look at me. "I don't know...it just that, we barely know them and-"
     Addi interrupts "But they're so cute and there's three of them and three of us and plus-"
     "I'm not getting with any of them! Don't even think for a second that I would give any of them a chance! I don't want them here!" Addi puts her head down and nods slowly. Abbi puts her arm on my shoulder.
     "Celeste, let them stay. You don't have to be with any of them and we won't expect you to either, but maybe having more of us is safer. Think about it." I close my eyes for a minute and when I open them, Addi is crying like crazy.
     "Oh my gosh! Fine, they can stay! Happy now?" I get up and jump out of the bed and walk toward the forest. "I'm getting firewood I'll be back." Both of them run up and hug me.
     "Thank you Celeste!!!" They run back over to help with the tent while I step into the forest with a gun in my hand. After finding wood and making a pile, I hear a branch snap. I turn and start shooting my gun.
     "Where are you!? Come out!" Taehyung comes out of hiding behind a tree with his hands up. I roll my eyes and put my gun away. "What are you doing here?"
     "They told me to come with you. You're getting firewood?"
     "No, I'm searching for cute little bunnies." I turn and walk back to the pile and he follows. "Look, I don't need your help so go away." He picks up half of the pile and walks toward the campsite. "I told you I don't need help!" He doesn't even look back and continues walking so I pick up the rest of the wood and carry it back to camp. I throw down the wood and turn to him. "Do you think I'm weak or something? I told you I could do it! I don't need help so from now on, stay out of my way!" Taehyung nods and I walk away. I find Addi with Jin. "Hey what's for dinner?"
     "Um I don't know. Anything I guess." She goes back to flirting with Jin and so I go to the tent. It's a very large tent with a wall down the middle to separate it into two rooms. Abbi and suga had set up bedding in both sides.
     Abbi comes in a few minutes later. "Hey, come get dinner before it gets cold." I follow her out and grab a plate, then sit by the fire. Addi is wrapped in a blanket with Jin and they both sing Awake softly. Suga hands Abbi a plate of food and sits next to her. I see that the only open spot was next to Taehyung, so I walk to the opposite side of him and continue standing while I eat.
     Addi cuts the song short. "Hey! Let's get to know each other since we'll be together for a while!" Everyone else agrees. "Okay okay I'll go first. My name is Addison but you can call me Addi. I'm 17 years old and I love singing, but make me mad and I will throw a grenade at you. Wait, I'll throw a cactus at your face." Everyone laughs except for Abbi.
     "Addi! That's Celeste's thing. Or, at least it used to be...a long time ago. Anyway continue."
      "I'm done your turn Jin!" Jin looks at each of us.
     "My name is Jin, I'm worldwide handsome and I like to eat. I'm the oldest, 29, and that's pretty much it. Suga, go."
     "My name is Yoongi, you can call me Suga. I'm 27 I like sleeping and yeah..."
Abbi goes next.
     "I'm Bill. I like burritos. I like sleep. I'm 16 Yeah." Everyone laughs and she looks at me. I shake my head so she chooses Taehyung to go.
     "Helleow, my name is V. Real name is Kim Taehyung. I love Panda Express, I'm 24." Everyone looks at me and I refuse but they get me to go anyways.
     "I'm Celeste, 17 years old. I...don't know what else to say."
     "That's okay" says Addi.
     They all tell jokes and sing songs while I just sit and watch the fire. A few times I catch myself looking at Taehyung so I quickly look away. Eventually he catches me looking at him and smiles. I, finally tired of standing, decide to just sit next to him. I'll just ignore him. I can't let myself fall for him and I won't let it happen.
