A Zombie's Heart

Chapter 5

   I wake up before everyone else does. I guess that means I'm in charge of breakfast. I start by getting a fire going and then I go to the cooler to get eggs and a pan. I fry the whole dozen in time before everyone gets up. They all take two eggs and sit by the fire. 

      Addi looks over at Taehyung who hasn't gotten anything and is just watching the fire. "Taehyung, go get food or you'll be hungry all day." 

     He looks at me and and then back at the fire. "Gomawo, baegopaeuda nikkan."

      Addi looks confused. "What?"

      I roll my eyes. "He's not hungry." I walk away to start cleaning up. Taehyung stands up and walks away to the forest. "Addi, you don't know Korean? How do you know Jin is funny?" 

     She looks up at me. "You do know Korean? And he speaks a little English. When I can't understand him he just sounds so cute." I roll my eyes and continue cleaning. Abbi walks over to us after coming out of the tent. "Do you speak Korean too Abbi?" 

      Abbi nods at Addi. "Of course! Me and Celeste learned it together." Addi looks down embarrassed. "Woooow." 

     Abbi throws a piece of egg at her. "Hey, I bet Jin could teach you." Addi perks up and runs over to Jin who was wandering around camp. Abbi laughs. "So Celeste, what were you and Taehyung up to last night? I heard you leave." 

     "It's nothing. I couldn't sleep so I told him he was too loud. That's all I promise. You know how I feel about even thinking of another relationship." 

     Abbi helps do dishes. "You should give it another chance it's fun. Plus, I think Yoongi likes me so don't be surprised if we become boyfriend and girlfriend anytime soon." I nod and start thinking about how I treated Taehyung last night. The more I thought about it, the worse I felt. 

     We finished up the dishes and Taehyung came back minutes later. "Is there any food left? I'm sorry I didn't take it before." 

     I looked at him. " You should've got some when it was offered to you." I walk away before I say anything else. 

     Abbi runs up to me and walks with me. "Why are you so mean to him?" She turns to look at him and points to the cooler. "He's really nice. You should get to know him." 

     "I know he's nice Abbi. But I don't want to waste my time getting to know them when I could be preparing for the worst and being ready for when the zombies come. He needs to give me space." I walk faster leaving Abbi behind.
