A Zombie's Heart

Chapter 33

Two weeks have passed by now and we've been staying at different hotels for multiple days. We're on the road Pennsylvania. None of us want to go to Maine to see the creator of the zombie drug, so we haven't been in a rush to get there. I wake up in the bed of he truck next to Taehyung. It's still dark outside and Jin had pulled to the side of the road last night to take a break from driving. I see Addi standing on the side of the road crouched over.

 I hop out of the truck. "Hey, addi. Are you okay?" 

"No. I'm going to throw up! Celeste, please help me..." 

"Er...okay..." I take a ponytail and put her hair in a bun. "Was it something you ate?" She shrugs her shoulders. She starts throwing up loudly, waking most people in the truck up. "Addi, we need to get you to town for medicine." 

She nods and I help her into the bed of the truck. Nate helps lift her in. I walk to the drivers side and tap the window, waking Jin up. He opens the door. "Hey jin, we gotta go into town. Addi is sick."

 He rolls his eyes and starts the engine. I hop into the truck as it starts moving g forward. As the sun starts to rise, I see that Addis face is pale. "How long have you been feeling sick?" 

She looks up at Nate then at me. "Every morning for the past few days." All eyes go to her and she gets uncomfortable. "It isn't what you're thinking guys, so stop staring." 

Ten minutes later, we stop at a gas station. Addi runs inside with Nate, while everyone stays in the truck. Jin fills up the tank with gas. 

"Hang on, I'm going to talk to Jin. He hasn't been the same since the break up," Says yoongi, jumping out of the truck. He walks over to Jin and they talk quietly for a minutes. I look down the road and see a figure stumbling slowly towards us. Addi and Nate come out of the store, both with a wide grin on their faces. 

"Guys! We gotta go! Now!" I yell. 

Yoongi and Jin notice the zombie and start making their way towards the truck, not making any sudden movements to get the zombies attention. 

"But guys!" Addi yells. 

"Not now addi! Hurry!" 

"But-" 

"ADDI!!" I yell loudly, catching the zombies attention. It picks up its pace. 

"But I'm pregnant!!" Yells addi. I look at Jin, who looks like he got punched in the stomach. The zombie gets closer and closer as they run to the truck. Nate lifts addi into the truck before getting tackled to the ground. Jin stands next to them but doesn't say or do anything. 

"Jin! Help him!" Addi shouts with tears in her eyes.

 Nate fight the zombie, trying to get out from it. Yoongi grabs a gun and shoots the zombie in the head. The blood splatters all over Nate, the truck, and addi. Addi shrieks loudly and Yoongi helps Nate up and they hop in the truck. 

"I'm going to kill you Jin!!" Addi cries. 

Jin gets in the drivers side and drives away. Nate breathes heavily and looks pale. 

"Did you get injured?" Jungkook asks him. 

He shakes his head. Addi holds him tightly and cries into his shoulder.

We pull over at a campsite in the mountains.

 Addi gets out first and punches Jin hard in the face when he steps out. "Why didn't you help him!? You saw he was about to die and you just sat and watched! I'm so glad the child is his and not yours because I would be ashamed if I gave birth to your child!" She storms off and Nate runs after her. Kayla and Karissa get out. 

"Wait she's pregnant!?" Asks Kayla. "I didn't even tell her congrats." 

Jimin grabs the tents and starts setting them up with hoseok and Namjoon helping. Jungkook runs over to give them a hand.

 "I'm going to go get firewood." I say. 

Taehyung starts to follow. "Want some help?" I hold my fingers like a gun. 

"Do you think I'm weak? I don't need help." He grabs my hand and puts it down. 

"Let's go before it gets dark." 

I laugh with him as we walk to the woods. "I can't believe how mean I was to you when we first met. I still feel bad." 

He shakes his head. "You're fine Celeste. It is understandable especially since It was right after...your boyfriend's...death." 

"It's okay to mention it now. I'm completely over him. Besides, I have someone way better." 

He smiles. "Yeah...that is me right?" 

I smirk. "No. It's that bunny right there." I point at it and he starts chasing it. I laugh as he runs after it before it goes in a hole.

 He puts his arm around my shoulder and laughs. "It is me though, right?" I hold up my hand to show him the promise ring and he smiles widely then smirks "It was easy winning you over by the way." 

I playfully hit his arm. "I was not." 

He nods and laughs. "You literally only hated me for a few days before you fell for me." 

"Hey, you fell for me first." 

We both laugh and he pulls me into a hug, then he kisses me. I look up into his deep brown eyes and smile. 

"Taehyung, I love you. But we should probably look for some wood before everyone freezes tonight." 

He takes my hand, our fingers intertwined and we continue walking. Suddenly, we hear the scream of an unfamiliar voice, coming from deep in the woods. I look at Taehyung, who stares in the direction that the scream came from. 

" Taehyung..." 

"Come on. Let's find out what that was."
