Aurie's POV

"AURELIA DE LA GARZA! WHERE WERE YOU?!" my mom yelled at me as soon as I got home.

"At the school library, I had some work. Jesus, can you not yell for once?!" I snapped at her.

"You could've called me and let me know or at least picked up my calls, Aurelia." she said.

"Fine, I'm sorry." I said through gritted teeth and walked up the stairs towards my room. I heard her sigh as I walked away.

You're such a disappointment.

I heard the voices.

Not again.

I walked inside my room and threw my bag on the floor, shutting my bedroom door. I flopped down on the bed, staring up at the white ceilings of my room.

Why was I like this?

Why couldn't I just be normal like everyone else?!

I felt the sadness take over me like always. My tears threatened to fall but I fought them as I heard a knock on the door.

"Come in" I said and sat up on my bed.

Maddie walked in and sat in front of me.

"Aurie, don't be mad at mom. She was really worried when you didn't come home." she said softly.

"I know Maddie. I was just angry." I said quietly.

"Where you really at the library?" she asked me.

"Yeah, of course" I said.

I hated lying to Maddie or any of my family members. But, I had to lie. I couldn't tell them the truth.

"Okay" she said and got up.

"Wanna watch a movie?" she asked.

I really just wanted to be alone right now but I hadn't spent time with Maddie in a while even though we lived in the same house. I know, weird right? And I knew that once Demi would come, everyone would forget me, including Maddie.

"Sure" I said and followed her to her room.

Maddie had a TV in her room and that's where she and I would always watch movies or shows. It was only on movie nights with my parents and Dallas that Maddie and I would watch stuff on the TV in the living room downstairs.

We decided to watch a horror movie since we both loved them and settled on watching 'Sinister'.

The movie got over after an hour and a half and I felt myself getting sleepy.

"Girls! Dinner's ready!" my mom called from downstairs as the movie credits rolled up on the TV screen.

Shit! Shit! Shit!

Don't eat.

Starve yourself, you deserve it.

I knew they were right. They always were. I got up and walked towards my room.

"Aren't you gonna have dinner?" Maddie asked.

"I'm really tired Mads. I'm just gonna sleep. Will you please tell mom for me?" I asked her.

She nodded. I smiled at her and made my way towards my room. Ignoring the growls in my stomach, I got under the bed sheets and closed my eyes.

My mind was filling up with unwanted thoughts. I forced myself to go to sleep and not think about anything else.

But as I closed my eyes, a single tear rolled down my cheek and on to my pillow.
