-6 years after the marriage-
Aurie's POV
"Mommy, mommy. Look at my drawing!" Brielle said, holding up a stick figure drawing of a family, I assumed was ours.
"Oh honey, that's wonderful!" I beamed, lifting her up and placing her on my hip.
"Did you pick out your clothes?" I asked her, since she loved doing that.
"YEAH!" she said happily.
I chuckled, kissed her cheek then put her down, sending her into her room.
"Babe, is Mason ready yet?" I asked Noah, walking into the upstairs room where he was.
"Almost" he said as he strapped on a pair of shoes on Mason's tiny feet.
"We're ready mommy!" Mason said.
"That's great baby!" I rejoiced, kissing him on his cheek.
Noah smiled looking at him, then looked at me.
"I'll start the car" he said.
"I'll get Bri" I said, kissing his lips and walking out of the the room.
"Let's get you ready honey" I said and grabbed the dress and jacket she had picked out.
"Nice choice Bri" I said, surprised at her good fashion sense, something I knew she didn't get from me.
She grinned cheekily and quietly let me dress her up.
I combed her short hair, leaving it open and strapped on her blue sandals.
Brielle Faith Lovato-Evans and Mason Andrew Lovato-Evans: our babies. They were twins and 4 years old now, and the most precious things to both Noah and I.
"Mama! Come quick, we wanna meet Grandma and Grandpa!" Mason said.
"Alright, alright. I'm coming!" I said.
I grabbed my purse, my phone, and the keys before I slipped on my wedges, and walked towards the car after locking the front door.
We were on our way to my mom's place for a small family gathering sort of thing. We had these quite often and I was glad I could meet my family every month.
We were on the road, the radio blaring, and the kids singing along to a few lyrics they knew.
We reached my parents house and as we entered, Mason and Brielle ran in, bumping into Demi on the way.
I walked in and saw her lovingly hug them, and soon they ran again, in search for my parents. Demi walked towards me, a big smile on her face.
"Hey baby girl!" she beamed.
"Hey Dems!" I said.
I hugged her tightly as she hugged me back.
"How have you been?" I asked as I pulled away.
"I'm swamped right now. Working on a new album, meetings and press. But it's work and I love it" she said, her eyes gleaming.
"You always did" I said smiling.
She smiled and turned to Noah who was shutting the door.
"Hey Noah! How are you?" she asked hugging him.
"I've been good. The kids definitely keep us busy" he said, chuckling.
"They sure do" I laughed.
"Babe, I'm gonna meet your parents" Noah said and walked into the kitchen.
I nodded at him and set my purse down on the table.
"How you been Ree?" Demi asked as we sat on the couch.
"I've been good Dems! Work is good, not too stressful which is great!" I answered, grinning.
"Aurie!" Maddie marveled as she walked in the front door.
"Maddie, hey!" I greeted, getting off the couch and hugging her.
"Hey Dems!" Maddie said excitedly and hugged her too.
"Where's Dallas?" she asked.
"Oh, she's gonna be a bit late" Demi said.
"Oh alright. I'll meet mum and dad and join you then!" Maddie said and walked away.
"I gotta meet them too" I said joining Maddie.

Later, Demi, Maddie and I spent some time together, talking and catching up with each other's lives while Dallas joined us for lunch.
We sat in the backyard for lunch where mum and dad had just placed a new dining area for gatherings and all such events. The table was noisy with everyone sharing stories with one another and Mason and Brielle playing with each other.
I smiled looking at my wonderful family.
I was in such a good place right now, and I was grateful.
Noah and I had been strong since the day we got married. Sure, we argued and fought sometimes but at the end of the day we always kissed goodnight and cuddled as we slept.
I had a great support system-my family and my friends. I still went for therapy a day every week and worked out every morning to keep myself healthy.
Demi was still my one and only go-to when I was having a rough day. Ivy was still my best friend and we met when we were free, almost once a month at least.
Ivy too was in a better place now. She was sober and was now working at a law firm and was happily married to Amber.
I, however, focused on journalism. Like my family, I didn't enter the hollywood life.
I accompanied Demi on a few talk shows, sharing my experience with an eating disorder, bulimia, depression and self-harm.
Through Demi, I understood how important it was for people to know that they weren't alone in dealing with mental illnesses. The stigma surrounding that topic had to be taken away and Demi and I stressed on that situation every time we had to do a speech or a talk show.
I had a great husband, a good balance between work and personal life, two lovely kids and a great mental health. I was stronger than ever.
I had broken free from my demons, walking into the light, I once thought I'd never find.
And every day that I looked in the mirror, I saw what Demi saw all those years ago-
A smart, witty, beautiful and an incomparable woman.
