Aurie's POV

"So how was your day?" Demi asked, setting her purse and phone on the table in front of the couch.

I smiled wide as I recollected the events of the day, a slight blush arising on my cheeks.

"Well, umm...it was...interesting" I answered.

Demi raised a brow at me, a slight smirk forming on her lips.

"You hung out with Noah, I'm assuming" she teased.

I tried hard to hold back the joyful smile but failed and blushed.

"Yeah, we did" I answered.

"Anything else you wanna tell me?" she inquired, the smirk widening.

My eyes widened. I was shocked and scared at how well she knew me.

"How did you-?" I asked, bewildered but could not finish my sentence because I was just that shocked.

Demi let out a laugh as she sat down beside me.

"Aurie...I have known you all your life. I have seen all your moods, and tantrums and happiness. Do you remember when you were in third grade, you had a crush on this guy, and you told no one but me?" Demi asked, grinning.

I cringed at the memory but nodded, waiting for her to proceed.

"Well, I remember how your eyes lit up when you saw him or just spoke about him. You may have changed baby girl, but your eyes...they haven't. You've had a crush on him for a while now, and I knew that long before you, yourself did, because your eyes lit up so beautifully when you spoke about him, just like they did years back." she explained.

I didn't know what to say. These tiny details that Demi paid such close attention to...I didn't even know about them.

I couldn't deny the fact that I loved talking to Noah. I loved hanging out with him and whenever I was telling Demi about him, I was happy.

I stared at my nails, as I tried to hide the blush growing on my cheeks.

"Ooohhh...Tell me, tell me, tell me!" Demi urged excitedly, as she noticed the sudden shyness that emerged.

She sounded like a teen girl, waiting to hear all about her friend's gossip.

"Alright, alright!" I gave in, chuckling at her childish behavior.

She smiled successfully and waited for me to continue.

"There's not much to say but...he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes" I revealed, happiness bubbling inside of me.

"Oh my God!! That is adorable!" Demi beamed, as she hugged me tight.

"I'm happy for you baby girl! He better treat you like a princess, because every girl in this world deserves to be treated with royalty." she said, as she pulled away.

I laughed and nodded.

"He already does Dems" I said, a wide smile on my face.

"Alright! Let's have some dinner, yeah?" Demi suggested, getting off the couch.

Instantly, my smile dropped, the happiness vanishing away.

"I-I ate" I lied.

Demi looked at me with a stern look, raising her eyebrow intimidatingly. She knew I hadn't eaten, she knew I was lying.

I groaned and got up, following her to the kitchen.

"I'm gonna make us some sandwiches, you fine with that?" Demi asked.

I shrugged and looked at my phone, ignoring her question all together.
She sighed but proceeded to gather all the vegetables for the sandwich.

"No cheese in mine. Or butter" I warned her.

"I know" she said, sadly.

Somehow, this struck a chord in my brain, sending me back to when I was 6 and Demi, 16.

-Flashback-

I had just finished my English assignment, the cut out papers and cardboard all sprawled across the living room, when Demi entered through the front door.

She had been out the entire day due to work, I was alone at home with my mum, dad and Dallas all at work, and Maddie at her friend's place.

"Demi!" I beamed with happiness as my small hands wrapped around Demi's legs.

"Awh, hey baby girl" Demi cooed, picking me up gently and taking me towards the kitchen, and setting me down on to the kitchen table.

She grabbed a bottle of water for herself from the counter, gulping it down in an instant.

"Demi, I'm hungryy!" I whined, as my stomach emitted a loud growl.

I smiled sheepishly at the noise and Demi chuckled.

Grabbing two slices of bread, some veggies and the cheese and butter from the fridge, she started making me a sandwich.

"I wanna help!" I said excitedly as I  hopped of the table and ran towards her.

We started making the sandwich but when she picked up the slice of cheese, Demi's face looked sick.

Confused, I innocently cocked my head to the side and stared at her.

"Dem-Dems! Are you okay?" I asked worriedly, shaking her arm.

"I'm-I'm fine Aurie. Here, eat this" Demi said handing me the sandwich.

Happily, I took a bite and shoved if towards Demi.

"Want a bite?" I asked.

"N-no!" Demi said almost instantly, a horrified look on her face.

"O-okay" I said, sort of scared at Demi's quick denial.

She left soon after, sprinting up the stairs and shutting the door to her room with a loud bang.

-End Flashback-

Little did I know, what Demi was going through at that point of time. How would the little me understand why her older sister was refusing to eat a sandwich, after all it was just a sandwich, wasn't it?

But more importantly, little did I know that in just a few years, I would turn into her; denying every single bite of food and refusing to eat a sandwich with butter and cheese in it, just the way I used to like it.
