Demi's POV
Maddie and I grabbed the tubs of popcorn as we made our way inside the theater.
"Dems, where's Aurie?" Maddie asked after a while.
"I honestly don't know Mads. She's been gone for a while now, hasn't she?" I asked, getting worried.
"Yeah, she has" Maddie agreed.
I switched on my phone and called Aurie. It rang for a long time but no picked up.
I sighed and called once more. But, again, no one answered.
Now I was getting anxious, tapping my foot on the ground nervously, I wondered whether Aurie had unfortunately bumped into the bullies. Hoping it wasn't that, I called her again and again and again.
By now, I had called her over 20 times. Maddie had no battery left in her phone so it was only me who was constantly calling.
I left the movie theater, obviously not interested in watching a movie when my little sister was missing.
I was panicking now and a bundle of emotions and thoughts ran through my mind-
Where was she?
Did her bullies do something, say something?
Why wasn't she picking up my calls.
And finally-
Was she okay?
Ping!
My phone lit up as I received a message.
It was Aurie.
Relieved, I smiled and clicked on the message but the message worried me even more.
I'm fine. Don't feel like talking. Just needed some air.

Something had definitely happened while she was in the washroom and I was sure it had to do with the school bullies.
Guilt flood through me since I knew that I was the one who had promised her I would be there the entire time, and I hadn't been there, especially when she needed me.
I felt horrible and extremely guilty but knowing that Aurie was safe eased my mind just a bit. Although, knowing that she wasn't mentally okay definitely did not ease me.
It terrified me.
Aurie's POV
I got up, brushing off the dust that was clung to the back of black skirt.
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine" I lied, turning my face away from his dazzling eyes and staring at my feet.
"You know, people don't cry when they're fine" he said.
I could feel his gaze on me, his eyes digging into my back.
I sighed and turned around to face him.
"Look, I'm okay. I just don't wanna talk about it" I said.
"Alright then. Do you mind if I keep you company?" he asked, taking a step towards me.
That made me smile slightly and I instantly averted my eyes to look at the ground. I nodded slowly.
"How about we go back up? My sisters are waiting for me" I replied.
"Sure" he said, his face curving into a charming smile.
I blushed slightly and we walked away towards the stairs leading up to the mall.
