Aurie's POV
"What do you mean, you're leaving tomorrow?" Ivy asked, utterly confused as I got into her car.
"I'm going to LA with Demi" I said, a frown settling on my face.
We were on our way to the party Ivy had told me about while I was getting ready.
"When will you be back?" Ivy asked, her hands gripping the steering wheel.
"I don't know" I said flatly.
"And you don't wanna go?" Ivy asked.
"I-I don't know. I agreed but...I'm not so sure I want to" I revealed truthfully.
"I'm sure it's gonna be great Aurie. She's your sister after all" Ivy encouraged me, flashing me a smile.
I ignored her comment and stared out the windows, letting the cool breeze blow through my hair. She didn't know the entire reason of why I didn't wanna go and honestly, I just wanted to forget about the entire thing.
Soon, we reached a Club. It didn't look all that fancy but it looked like one of those clubs where IDs weren't normally checked and if they were, it was rare.
"Let's go" Ivy said grabbing my hand, her eyes twinkling with excitement.
I chuckled and ran after her, successfully dodging the security guard who was peacefully sleeping on his chair.
"Ivy!" I heard someone exclaim as they ran towards us.
Instantly, Ivy's eyes glinted with happiness, her cheeks went red and a wide smile broke out on her face.
I watched them hug lovingly as I stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do.
"Ohh...right, you guys don't know each other" Ivy mumbled, smiling sheepishly.
I chuckled simultaneously and flashed a small, almost insignificant smile towards the girl in front of me.
"Amber, meet Aurie and Aurie meet Amber!" Ivy introduced us with a wide smile of pure happiness latched on to her face.
My smile grew wider and I mumbled a small 'hello', instantly feeling intimidated by the gorgeous girl in front of me.
"Let's grab a seat by the bar until the guys come" Ivy suggested referring to Irwin, Ash and Ethan who were going to meet us at the club.
Soon, Ivy, Amber and I had drinks in our hands. I was drinking Vodka, my second glass already and while Ivy was drinking beer, Amber was having shots of tequila.
The guys came a while later and soon, our group had grown bigger. We all headed to the dance floor, some of us tipsy, some of us drunk.
With a vodka glass in my hand, I almost fell straight on my face when Ivy grabbed my arm.
"You need to sit down" she said, chuckling slightly.
"No, I wanna daaanceee" I slurred.
I pulled myself out of Ivy's grip and dragged her to the dance floor.
We danced all night and I had easily gone through one and a half bottles of vodka through the night. I was extremely drunk; I could neither see straight nor walk straight.
"Let's get you home Aurie. You have a curfew?" Amber asked, trying to hold me upright.
"Fuck the curfew!" I slurred and erupted into giggles.
"Let's go get hiiighhh!" I exclaimed, excitement bubbling inside of me.
"No, we're getting you home" Amber said sternly.
I scowled at her then frowned.
"Pwetty pwease?" I asked, like a 5 year old would.
I put on my best puppy dog eyes. Amber sighed, and gave in eventually.
We all got into Ethan's car and head to Ash's house.Ash always had a good amount of both coke and weed stacked up in his house. He got it out and soon I was both drunk and high.
I loved the feeling. I didn't feel guilty at all even though I know I should've considering the struggles Demi had to face and I knew I had told myself I wasn't going to get addicted but I guess I was wrong.
"Aurie, you wanna go home? I can drop you, I don't mind." Amber suggested.
It was close to 11:30 and I was definitely not in the state to go home.
I vigorously shook my head and Amber gave a concerned look towards Ivy.
"Her family doesn't know she drinks and stuff. She can stay at my place, we're heading there now" Ivy explained.
"Alright babe" Amber said.
Though it was dark in the living room, I could see Ivy's cheeks turn crimson as she held back a shy smile.
"You guys are cute" I blurted out to Ivy whose hand was adorably intertwined with Amber's.
This made Ivy's cheeks turn redder than before and I roared in laughter, throwing ny head back. I felt happy, maybe it wasn't genuine happy but it was definitely better than feeling depressed.
Ivy shook her head, a shy smile hanging on her face.
"We're taking you home" Ivy said, changing the subject.
I chuckled and nodded in agreement.
Amber, Ivy, Irwin and I all headed back to Ivy's place.
"Aurie, I'm letting your mum know through your phone that you're staying over" Ivy said grabbing my phone, as we entered her room.
I yawned and nodded in her direction, crashing on the single bed in the room. Right away, I fell into a deep sleep.
That night, I had slept peacefully. More peacefully than I had the past few weeks. For those 3-4 hours that I was out drinking, all my problems had sort of vanished.
What I failed to realize was that though in my mind, it was helping me in a way, it was definitely going to hurt the people around me like my family.
I failed to realize that I was being selfish and even though I knew it was bad for me, I continued to do it. I was addicted now and I didn't know how to stop.
This secret was the hardest to conceal from Demi and the most deadly one. I knew it would hurt her horribly but in that moment when I was enjoying the taste, the feeling; I didn't care about the consequences I would have to face and soon I would come to know that they most definitely would be lethal.
