I had run my fingers through dust from countless stars and galaxies, yet I had never seen a more beautiful constellation like you. Hit me, cupid.

💕Serene's POV💕

Finally, the dreaded day has come. The prom. A night where you live your whole school life backward. A night where wonders happen. New hearts get together. Some hearts break. But for me, it's just a waste of everything. I mean, what's the point of all this? I am fully ready. My hair is up in a loose bun, with a few strands of hair falling lightly on my face. Minimal makeup with just eye shadow and red lipstick. Stacy and Mikee are in my house. We were getting ready together. Juliet couldn't make it as she was busy with something I really don't want to know. We are all ready. I'm just waiting for our date to come. My mom snapped lots of pictures of us. Dad had to actually calm her and get her out of there. She was going crazy with happiness. The bell rang. I got up and opened the door. To my surprise Jake Sinclair is standing in front of me. "What are you doing here? Forgot your way to your date's house". I asked him smirking. Before hhim, ould say a thing Stacy's voice cut him. "Actually I am his danything,"Actually, ikee and I shim off. ogether in disbelief. Just then I saw Zach coming too "We will talk about this later Meghan. But trust me you better tell me everything or it won't be good for you". I said. She laughed. Why the hell is t:at nincompoop is not here.later,ought. He better nome, stand me up. I was thinking when I saw a gray Mustang pulled in front of my house. Kaden came out. Sexy would be an understatement. He looked deliciously yummy. He is wearing a tight-fitting black Armani suit with an aqua blue tie. Perfect. "It took you too long". I asked him. "Yeah, sorry about that." He raised his hands. "Shall we go, Milady?" I smiled. "We shall." I grabbed my red mask and accompanied him. The prom function is going to happen in the school gym. The whole gym is decorated with balloons, flowers, ribbons, and so much more. The light is dim. And everyone is wearing a mask. It's really hard for anyone to recognize. Meghan, the organizing president, got on stage to address the crowd. "Hello everyone. Welcome to the prom night of Mystic High. As you can see, this is a masquerade party. It's compulsory for all of you to keep your mask on until the night ends. So enjoy the party and don't forget to vote for the prom queen and king. Thank you." Everybody clapped. So far, no one has recognized me. Neither did I recognize anyone. But in the crowd of many, my eyes were searching for him desperately. Couples were dancing. Singles were drinking, and I was refusing everyone who was asking me for a dance. A few minutes ago, Kaden left me to meet his friends, and now I am alone, sitting on the bar. I got up to search for any of my friends when I stumbled on something. Specifically someone. "Shit. I am sorry". He was holding me. Its Caleb. Oh my freaking god. Its him. I could recognize his voice from anywhere. I looked up to confirm that it was him. And then I met his intense gray eyes behind the mask. "Are you okay"? He asked. I nodded. And said, " I am fine." "Good to know," he said. He didn't recognize me. Why would he anyway? "So, you are alone. Where is your date? he asked me. He was looking at me in a way that was making me shiver. "He is somewhere, but I don't know where," I said, laughing a little. He smiled too. "So you are alone, and it seems like you need company, and I am alone too. My girl had to leave the party early because of some problems. We can keep each other busy". He said. Juliet got home without telling any of us. I wondered what had happened. "Um. Yeah, sure. You want a drink". "No, I don't drink." We sat silently for a minute or two. "Will you dance with me? he asked. Dancing with him has always been my dream. Now that he has given me a chance to live it, why would I deny it?"Yes." He held my hand and led me to the floor. His one hand snaked around my bare back. It burned every inch he touched. He gently held my hand, and my arm draped around his shoulder. A slow song is playing. We moved to the beat. We didn't exchange any words. He was looking at me carefully. So was I. We didn't break our gaze. He spurned me, and when I came around, I clashed with his chest. His cinnamon smell blocked my senses. He was too close. I can hear his heart beating fast. His fast breathing was too. I looked up. Our lips were inches away now. His hot breath was fanning over my lips. For years, I have imagined my kiss with the guy I wrote a letter to. The guy with whom I am irrevocably in love Now it could be true. Where will I get it from? I know he loves her. And that's the truth. But it's time for me to say goodbye. Because I can't hold him forever in my heart. I have to let him go. He gave me everything I ever wished for. So this kiss will be closure. A closure to the chapter of Caleb The boy whom I loved selflessly But this is how it will end. With a good-bye kiss. Before I could move closer. He pressed his lips on me. Whatever I had dreamed of was far better. After a few minutes, we pulled for air. He then, I think, realized what he had done. His eyes widened. We didn't say anything. After a minute, he broke the silence. "Who are you?" I smiled. "Somebody you shouldn't know about Caleb," I said and turned around. He grabbed my hand. "Wait, at least let me explain. I don't know why I did that. I shouldn't have done that. And if you know me than you must also know I have a girlfriend. It was a mistake. I am sorry." "It's okay, Caleb. No worry. I know you love Juliet. I know it was the spur of the moment. I never did or never will doubt the love you have for her. You may not know me or recognize me, but I know you pretty well." "If you know me so well and you know how much I love Juliet, then why did you kiss me back?" He asked. I smiled again. A sad one." Because, Caleb, that was a goodbye kiss. Now I no longer will suffer. Because with that kiss I set you free and let you go. So goodbye." I turned around and walked as fast as I could. I called Kaden. I told him I wanted to get out of here. He agreed to it too. So now we both, in full dress, are sitting on his roof eating doritos."
