Chapter Twenty-Five
Katie's POV:
Nightmares kept me awake.
It was midnight and I couldn't sleep because everytime I'd fall asleep I'd dream of the rogues. I'd dream of everything.
I looked around the room I was in. It was like I had never been in here before. Had I been in here before?
I climbed out of the bed and walked out into the hallway, before heading down the stairs. I needed a drink of water.
"Katie's gone insane. She's pretty much nuts." A man said. I stopped and pressed my ear against the wall. He was in the kitchen.
"She's getting better. It's only been 2 weeks. Leave her alone." My brother's voice came. Jared. He'd always believed in me. I smiled sadly to myself. I had forgotten about my brother up until two days ago. I remembered the pain in his eyes as I'd screamed at him and told him to get away from me just a week ago. Had I ever apologized?
"Jared, son, she hasn't gotten much better. Yes, she does recognize you and many pack members now and she is processing things better, but she's always going to be as fragile as she was when we found her. Her mate was killed. She's never going to be the same Katie." My father was right. I was never going to be the same Katie.
I walked towards the door frame and into the light where they could see me. My mom looked at me and stood up.
"Is everything okay, honey?" I nodded my head and smiled weakly.
"I'm just thirsty."
"Jared, get your sister a drink of water and take her back upstairs, please." Jared started to stand up.
"No.I'll get it." Jared slowly sat back down and looked at my mom. I ignored everyone's stares and walked over to the cupboard, before grabbing a cup and filling it up with water. I took a sip and turned around to head back upstairs.
"I think I'm gonna head to bed." My brother said and stood up. "Good night."
I walked with him up the stairs silently. When we hit my door he mumbled a good night and started heading towards him and Rachel's room.
Suddenly, I realized that I didn't want to be alone. I quickly turned around.
"Jared, wait." He turned around and looked at me.
"What?" I needed my big brother.
"Do you think you could sit in my room until I fall asleep? Or you could just sleep in my room?" He glanced towards his door and smiled.
"Yeah. I'll be right back. I'm gonna go grab a pillow and a blanket and then I'll be right in,okay?"I nodded and walked into my room. Jared came in a couple of minutes later with a bunch of blankets and a pillow.
"Did you leave any blankets for Rachel?"I asked with a hint of humor. He grinned as he made himself a bed on the ground.
"Yeah...one." I chuckled and crawled into my bed. He turned off the light and layed down on his "bed".
"Good night, Jared."
"Good night, Katie."
**********
I'm gonna end it there since I'm not feeling well right now. I'm sorry its so short and crappy. :P Good night!
