"Okay, so I'm leaning towards blue." I tell my mom looking at all the paint samples.

"Blue? Really?" she asks looking at me.

"Yeah, blue. Is that like a problem or?" I ask.

"Oh no sweetie. That's fine."

"Okay. I want this one." I say picking up a light almost neon blue sample. We go to where you get the paint and purchase two cans. My mom breaks the silence in the car.

"So this Luke boy." she says glancing my way for a split second.

"What about him?" I ask looking out the window.

"He's," she pauses trying to find the words to say. "awkward so to say." I laugh.

"Mom, everyone is awkward when they meet you. You literally think everyone and thing is awkward."

"I do not." she objects.

"What was your first impression of dad?" I ask trying to prove a point.

"Well, he was kinda awkward-" I cut her off.

"He was what?" I laugh.

"I stand corrected." she says glancing my way. "Anyway about this Luke. What's your opinion on him?" she asks pulling in the driveway.

"He's cute, I don't really know much about him, I've only talked to him the one time." I say getting out.

"Well him and his family are coming over for dinner." she says following my actions.

"Dinner? Like today dinner?" I ask stopping.

"Yeah, that's okay right?" she asks walking in the front door.

"Yeah, uh, it's great." I mumble.
