This chapter is short and I apologize in advance. Posting early since the last chapter took me 15 days to publish. Anyways enjoy and vote please!!
++++++++++++++Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and i planned to fly and see my family in Florida. As much as i looked forward to it, i kind of felt bad for Cole having to spend the holidays alone. I knew what it was like be spend them all alone and it was depressing to say the least. Im beyond blessed to now have a family to spend such joy filled times with. At the same time i didn't feel bad because after all the pain he inflicted on me he deserves pain. I feel guilty for not feeling bad at moments because no one deserves to be without a loving and supportive family.
Honestly some time away from him would do me good. My hormones and emotions could use a long needed break. Sometimes Cole makes me feel absolutely crazy like there's a war raging inside me. My brain screams revenge but my heart screams agonizingly against it. Maybe i just need time away to realize my hormones are going crazy like any teenager. Yeah that's probably all it is.
I finished shoving random clothes in my suitcase and grabbed my keys off the counter. Thankfully the flight was direct and Ryler was picking me up at the air port.
I towed my suitcase behind me walking towards the exit. Ryler stood leaning against his car, his dark brown hair was a striking difference against his permanently tanned skin. When he finally noticed me he ran up and hugged me tightly. "Took you long enough to get here!"
"You're. Crushing. Me." I gasped out. He acts like he hasn't seen me in years.
"Oops sorry. How ya been? Haven't heard from you in awhile, just what mom tells me."
I threw my luggage in the trunk and slid into the front seat of his new BMW. "It's been going decent i would say. How's college life going?"
Ryler scowled and pulled onto the road. "Ugh it's worse than high school and i thought i hated that. Theres constant hour long lectures and endless homework that seems impossible to get completed by the due date. If it wasn't for my scholarship I'd be the family drop out." He chuckled and shook his head. "Any college plans for you?"
"Honestly I haven't put any thought into college much less what i might even want to do." Up until he said something i never put any thought into it. I don't even know what i would want to do for a career. I've never even had a job to know what I don't like. College seems like it is so for out yet but in reality its right around the corner, with graduation in May.
It didn't take long to get to the house and park. Being back here felt like coming home. Dragging my suitcase up the steps, i made a b-line for my aunts study. Peaking my head in i found her sitting at her desk surrounded in paper work.
"You shouldn't be working during the holidays." In response she hummed, lost in her world of paper work.
"Just a few final things. Will you please go see if my son is back with Kenzie?" She never even looked up to realize she wasn't talking to the maid. I stifled my laughter and stepped closer.
"Who do you think you're taking to?" I busted out laughing, clutching the edge of the desk to stabilize myself. Her head immediately snapped up. The look of surprise on my aunts face was priceless.
"Kenzie! I'm so sorry i was so absorbed in my work." She wrapped her arms tightly around me in a bone crushing hug. For such a little woman she's way stronger than she looks. "As of right now I'm done with all business until you leave."
"You're crushing me." I gasped out once again. What is with my family crushing me.
"Oops! How have you been. Jordan told me about your hair incident with that girl."
Inwardly i cringed. "Yeah she wrecked my hair to say the least."
"Knowing you, I'm sure you're going to get your revenge." She winked and walked out of the office. I proceeded to fill her in on everything that I've been up to recently. We sat on the deck enjoying each others company when Ryler joined us.
"Did you tell her about the upcoming event next week mom?"
"Oh goodness i forgot!" Aunt Bonnie exclaimed. "Next week I'll be in Minneapolis for a business event of sorts. There will be a masquerade ball and I'd like you to go. I believe Cole's mother will be there too, so I'd assume he will also be in attendance."
My aunt knows me to well. Cole is my greatest enemy but yet one of my closest friends. Its a never ending war between my heart and brain. Its a war i fear will not have an ending that i had originally planned. I smiled. This ball could be a chance for Cole to meet the girl he used to know but who grew a pair. He wouldn't even know its me being its a masquerade ball.
I'd finally get my answers as to how he really feels about what he did to me all that time ago. "I wouldn't miss it."
"Oh no.. you have that evil smile plastered on your face. What are you up to?" Ryler said curiously. He pulled up a chair next to me and started rubbing his hands together like a child up to know good.
"Alright you both know how i feel about this. I'm going to go start prepping food and pretend i heard nothing." Bonnie shook her head with a smile and walked into the kitchen.
"Alright cuz what are you thinking?"
"Im going to get in his head and make him regret the day he first laid a hand on me." I smiled evily and began to plot for next week.
