Chapter 45

After the meeting i was told to go home and go about my life as normal but make sure not to do any more digging. Giovanni said he'd be in touch and his men would keep an eye on me at all times. Cole continued to stay with me. Things were tense between us and we didn't speak much. I didn't mind the lack of speaking because my thoughts were else where anyways.

Today i was to go to school as normal and i didn't even know how i was going to function normally. Im sure Cole felt the same way. This morning he planned to hit the wait room so he left before me. When he told me he would meet me at school i was surprised. He hasn't spoke to me much since the meeting but he hasn't let me out of his sight either.

I showered and decided to straighten my hair. My hair is now past my ribs when straight. Sighing i put on dark makeup to hopefully hide my lack of sleep. For clothes i put on black skinny jeans and a black shirt. Black always seems to be my go to no matter my mood. Maybe i should change that. Grabbing my leather jacket i headed towards the door.

When i opened the door a man stood there waiting for me. I struggled to hid my alarm. Giovanni said they would be keeping an eye on me but I didn't think they would be outside my door. That seems like a little bit to much to me but I won't argue.

"I was asked to escort you to school." The man looked to be in his early thirties with short dirty blonde hair and strikingly blue eyes. He reminded me of Cole in many ways, especially the height.

"It's fine, i can drive myself." I tried to walk passed him but he stepped in my path. Now i was mad. Standing outside my door and following me everywhere is fine but I definitely don't need to be driven around.

"I was told not to take no for an answer. You can take it up with the boss later."

"Fine, just for today." Bickering with him clearly wasn't going to get me anywhere. When we stepped into the elevator I assumed we would go to the ground floor not the garage floor. I'm sure Giovanni had connections to get a key to the underground garage.

Stepping out of the elevator there was a black suv waiting with a younger guy holding a door open for me. The guy from upstairs walked around to the drivers side so i headed towards the open door.

"Thanks." I said to the guy holding the door. As i was about to get in an arm wrapped tightly around me pinning my arms down and his other hand over my mouth. Immediately adrenaline and fear coursed through my veins and i tried to throw my weight forward to catch him off balance but he held me to tightly. I tried to kick and thrash but my vision started to fade and the last thing I remember was the driver telling the guy holding me to hurry up.

COLE'S POV

My phone ringing pulled me out of a dead sleep. Kenzie didn't wake up thankfully. The name on my screen showed my father was calling. Panic set in right away and i had to take deep breaths to calm myself. I haven't spoke to him in almost a year or seen him, why would he call? Maybe he knows about Kenzie.. thinking about it made my blood run cold.

"Hello?" I tried to answer as casually as possible. Hopefully he couldn't hear how nervous i was but he always had a way knowing everything before anyone else.

"How are you Cole? Its been awhile?" I could just imagine the cruel smirk on his face. When my father was home as a kid he was never mean to me but he was always cold. He acted like I didn't exist unless my mother was around. She wasn't a whole lot better than he was but at least she never cold to me. The death of my brother explains a lot of her distance from me over the years.

"I haven't talked to you in a year. Why are you calling now?" Hearing his voice was making my blood boil especially knowing he plans to kill Kenzie was he knows about her.
