Cole was just finishing his conversation with an important business man by the looks of it. Walking up behind him i trailed my fingers from his right shoulder to his left. When he spun around i was behind him again. He spun around yet again and i watched him silently as his face scrunched up in confusion.

I could see him trying to think of where he's met me before only to come up blank. "Have we met before?"

I smiled knowingly. "Dance with me Cole?" I stuck my hand out and once again his brows drew together in confusion. He took my hand and lead me to the dance floor.

"You shouldn't hold someone you know so well, in such a formal way." I pulled him closer and wrapped my arms around his neck. As much as i hated to admit, i was more than comfortable being in his arms.

"I'm afraid we haven't met before. Id remember someone like you." I could feel his tense muscles beneath my touch. His eyes roamed what little of my face he could see in curiosity.

In response i hummed and didn't respond for a moment enjoying the beauty of classical music. We glided gracefully across the marble floors. "Why would you remember someone whom has always been below you?"

"I'm sorry miss but who are you again?" Cole inquired my identity but I wasn't going to fully reveal it.

"All things come in good time." The song changed to an eerie, slow paced violin song. It was hauntingly beautiful and caused goosebumps to run up my arms.

"You've been wondering where i went, but haven't said anything to anyone. Wouldn't want your new girl to find out what you did, would we?" Cole stopped dancing and his eyes darkened in horror. His mouth was slightly gaping in surprise. If it wasn't for my anger id laugh.

"You're causing a scene now Cole, you have to face your demons sometime. Now dance." My tone came out harsher than intended. Cole was still for a moment but regained his composure. I could tell he wanted to say many things but couldn't find the right thing to say.

"Do you worry she will find out all the awful things you did to me?" I taunted. He went to pull away and his face was pale in fear and swirled with anger. Could you blame him? He was ambushed by his past he longed to forget. Firmly i pulled him back to me.

"We stop dancing when i say so. I asked you a question Cole." I couldn't help but taunt him to see how far i could push him.

"Look I'm sorry for what i did but it's the past. You need to move on." His words were clipped in anger and it made me laugh.

"For me it isn't the past. Im here to remind you of the pain you inflicted on me over the years. You made my life a living hell."

"What do you want?" How stupid can he be to think i would just forget like it was nothing. My life sucked without him before and he only made my life worse than it needed to be all because he was going through a rough time at home. There's no excuses for the things he said and did to me. Tonight i would remind him. He's no longer in control.

"Did you really think I would just walk away as if you didn't wreck my life?" I dug my nails into the back of his neck slightly to get my point across. His body tensed up more than it already was.

"Everyone thought you moved away or died, you should have let it continue that way." Cole spat at me.

"Now now, don't cause a scene Cole. Wouldn't want anyone to find out what a monster you can be."

"Look i already said i was sorry for how i treated you. It was wrong and if i could take all it back i would, but you need to let it go." He paused for a moment to control his breathing. "Im not that person anymore and you seem more than fine now."

"Yes more than fine would be correct, but i have some unfinished business with you. I will remind you again and again of how worthless you made me feel. Not to mention the beatings i took by your hands."

"I'm sorry how many times do i have to say it?" His question was rhetorical but I answered anyways.

"Until I'm satisfied. Does she make you want to be a better person?" I hummed as we continued to dance amongst a crowd of people.

"You leave her out of this. It's none of your business." It wasn't to much longer before I'd push him over the edge.

"I'll make her my business if i damn well please. Answer my questions like a good boy and it will make your life easier." I struggled not to punch him. All my old feelings of anguish and rage were returning.

"Yes she makes me want to be a better person. Is that what you wanted to hear?" His tone was shot and clipped.

"Yes, it wasn't so hard. Do you love her?" I'm not sure why i asked but I couldn't take it back now. Another song came on, this one as beautifully haunting as the last.

"I don't know." His voice was a mere whisper. I won't lie and say my heart clenched a little at hearing it. Cole's tone was now pained and confused. He must have a million things running through his mind.

"You either do or you don't. It's fairly straightforward i think." In response he grumbled becoming more annoyed with my questions. To him they seemed absolutely unrelated.

"Yes, I love her. If you do anything to hurt her you will regret it." His tone was threatening but it no longer scared me the way it once had.

"You no longer scare me. I'm not going to hurt her, im not you. Im simply curious that is all." The song was now close to ending and i was tired of being near him. I needed space to think especially after he said he loved me, well in his case her. In a sense it made me beyond happy because I can't deny i have some feelings for him and happy i have achieved making him fall for me. At the same time it angers me that it makes me so happy. I shouldn't have any romantic feeling for Cole at all. Not after everything he has done to me.

"Excuse me ladies and gentlemen!" A man walked across the stage trying to get everyone's attention. We all stopped to turn his way before he continued speaking. "It's time to announce our best dressed male and female of the night." People immediately started cheering and buzzing in excitement. The things people get excited over. I couldn't help but role my eyes.

For a few minutes he rambled on about the party and thanking everyone for coming. I tuned it out since none of it pertained to me.

"Tonights best dressed female is the woman in the black in white dress. Please come up to the stage dear!" I glanced around and couldn't find anyone else with a black and white dress like mine. Going up there could blow my cover. I glanced over at Cole and he scowled at me.

"Well you better go up there."

I ignored the announcer calling for me as people looked my way expectingly. It was hard to keep from blushing under their gazes. The men were mentally undressing me and the woman were green with jealousy.

"I'll be seeing you around Cole. You never know when i might show up." He silently stared at me in anger in fear for a minute before i broke the eye contact. Quickly i made my way towards the entrance with everyone watching me. People moved out of my way wondering where i was going instead of going on stage. Ignoring everyone i made my way down the front steps past the fancy cars and valet.

I felt like I couldn't breath and i was dying to take my mask off but i knew I couldn't chance it just yet. There were so many more things that i wanted to say to Cole but being so close to him made me loose my train of thought quickly.

Once i made it a few blocks down i called for a taxi to take me home. It was only a twenty minute ride thankfully. When the taxi pulled up i quickly slipped inside giving the driver directions.

I slid into the back seat and sighed. Cole is going to be the death of me.
