Killian nervously paced around his room. Ruby had texted him, telling him Emma was okay and she could have visitors. He wanted to see her so badly. He needed to talk to her.
He didn't know what she'd say. Or if she would even care. He was just a small part in her life. She had more important people to see. She had better people to catch up with.
As he kept pacing around, Ruby sent him a final text.
Go for it.
He read the text and decided to take her advice. He got in his car and went to the hospital. He waited outside her door for a little back, having second thoughts.
"You can come in anytime, you know," He heard from the other side of the door.
Her voice.
The voice he missed so much for the past two years. He slowly opened the door and walked into the room. He smiled seeing her, awake. He sat down in the chair so many people had sat in earlier.
"Hey Emma..." He smiled.
"Did you miss me?" Emma joked, smiling at him.
"More than you know," He nodded. "It's been really lonely without you."
There was a short silence before Emma spoke her thoughts.
"You know... I really wish you would've talked to someone when I was gone," She said softly.
Killian sighed. He knew she would say that. "I know, love... It's just that you were the only one I felt comfortable talking to," He shrugged.
There was a slightly uncomfortable pause. Emma seemed to be having a lot of those lately.
"So what are you up to now? Still playing guitar?" Emma asked, offering a smile. The last time they had talked Killian was a huge guitar geek. He had a collection of 17 guitars and everything. She teased him about it all the time. She truly hoped he still liked guitar, so he had something he was passionate about.
"Oh, obviously. You know that,'' He smiled, then looked down.
"You know, Killian... Ruby told me you wrote a speech, about me," She mentioned. "Did you really?"
"Yeah... For a class. It was in memorial of you. When we thought you were dead," He told her. "I still have it. It's saved on my computer. If you wanted ot read it you can." He said.
"I mean, you can also give me tips for when I read at your real memorial. A long, long time from now," He said.
He didn't even like to think about loosing Emma ever again. Not even in a million years.
"Sure... I'd love to read it sometime," She smiled.
"How are you holding up?" He asked her.
"I'm fine," She said. He raised an eyebrow.
"Emma... I'm serious. How are you holding up?" He asked again. She sighed.
"I'm alright, I guess. I mean I wish people would stop treating me like I'm some alien. Everyone is asking me what happened, and I don't think I want to talk about it. I have to, because everyone just has to know." She said.
"You've just got a lot of people who care about you, that's all. You're lucky," Killian told her.
She shrugged. "Yeah, I guess so. Either that or I'm just a headline or a newspaper article," She said.
"I think everyone genuinely cares about you. It's a small town, I doubt anyone is just talking to you so they have information," He said.
"Alright," She replied. She didn't know if she believed him or not, but he had no reason to lie.
Killian looked at the clock and sighed. "I have to go now... I'll come back tomorrow and I'll bring you my speech. I'll see you tomorrow, Swan," He said.
She couldn't help but smile a little when she heard her nickname again. "Alright, Jones. See you tomorrow," She said.
Killian smiled and got up, walking out. Emma pulled the uncomfortable hospital blankets over her and tried to go to sleep. Even though it was only six in the evening she was still exhausted from the events of the day. She quickly fell asleep.

The next day Killian came into her hospital room with printed papers in his hand. It was his speech. "Hey Emma," He smiled, sitting down."Hey Killian," She said, returning the smile. "Is that your speech?" She asked, pointing to the papers.
"Yep," He nodded. "I'm not giving it to you until after I leave," He added, a little bit teasingly.
"Why not?" She fake complained, pulling her bottom lip into a pout and crossing her arms.
"Because I don't want to be here when you read it," He answered truthfully.
Killian was always insecure about whatever he did. More specifically, what he showed people. Whether it was him playing guitar or him singing, or him raising his hand to answer a question in class. He was always scared of people laughing at him, even though he was pretty much used to it.
"Alright, you win this time Jones," Emma joked, returning to her happy state.
"What do you mean, Swan? I always win," He winked and smiled.
"You sure about that?" Emma raised an eyebrow and joked.
He pretended to be offended. "You wound me, Swan," He joked, putting his hand on his chest.
"I would say I'm sorry but I'm only telling the truth," Emma said, shrugging.
"Oh are you now?" He laughed while she nodded.
They talked for a while, mostly about Killian. She didn't have that much to talk about. Nothing she wanted to talk about, anyways. They talked about school and classes. They talked about the sports teams and what was going on at school.
He filled her in on the drama he overheard and what was going on in the world. He told her about the new phones that came out and discoveries scientists had made. He told her about the new TV shows and what shows were coming back. They talked about the new singers and she listened to some of the newer songs.
Emma really had a good time. She and always enjoyed talking with him. She felt relaxed and she almost wasn't haunted by what happened to her for the past two years. Emma liked that she didn't feel pressure to live up to some sort of standards. She could just be herself, judgement free.
She almost didn't remember she was gone. It was like she never left, for both of them.
