Emma couldn't sleep that night. She had been in the hospital for too long. She wanted to go home so bad. She tossed and turned in the bed. Eventually, she gave up trying to sleep. She turned on the light and sat up. She looked at the clock, which read 1:10 a.m.

She sighed and looked around. She looked at the little stand by her hospital bed. Then she saw the little pile of papers. Killian's speech. Killian's speech he wrote for her.

Emma carefully picked it up and starting reading it softly aloud to herself.

I wrote about Emma Swan, who died October 21st, two years ago... Emma had big plans, bigger than anyone could have even imagined.

She smiled reading it. He remembered what she had told him. About her future. About the future in general.

Emma never failed to make someone smile, even if she was on the breaking point herself.

She sighed. It was all true. Everything he said in his speech was true. She wished he couldn't figure her out as well as he always did. Whether she liked or not, with the short time they had together at lunch, Killian managed to get to know her in a way no one else ever could. He managed to get to know the real her.

She told me her favorite songs were A Little Too Much and Hold on by Shawn Mendes. She said they were about when life got tough that we had so much life in us to live.

'He remembered?' Of course, she always talked about those songs. She always freaked out whenever they came on after school on the radio. She always insisted he sing along with her.

I believe Emma to be one of the strongest people I've had the honor of knowing. ...Let us have Emma always in our hearts.

She truly couldn't believe it. Did she really have that much of an impact on him? On the school? Emma put the paper back on the stand and laid down.

Eventually, even with all the thoughts circling her mind until she was sure she was going to burst, she fell asleep.

She woke up a few hours later. It was 8:00 in the morning. She sat up and stayed there for a while. She didn't know why she was still in the hospital. She was honestly fine. She wasn't hurt at all.

She got up and went to the cafeteria, even though she was technically on bed rest. She hated that they treated her as if she was a porcelain doll, about to break. She was sick of it.

She got breakfast and went back to her room, where Doctor Whale was impatiently waiting.

"Where were you?" He asked with his arms crossed.

"Getting breakfast," She shrugged. She didn't see the big deal.

"Emma, you can't get up. Get back in bed," Doctor Whale ordered her. "You're my patient. It's not good if I loose you."

"Yeah, I know. Sorry I was hungry," She said sarcastically, getting into the hospital bed. "I'm fine, really. Can I please go home?"

Doctor Whale sighed. "You are going to go back home tomorrow morning. We just need to make sure you're alright before we let you leave."

Emma didn't care when she went home as long as she didn't have to stay in the hospital longer than three more days. "Yay! Thank you!" She smiled excitedly.

She usually wasn't this peppy. Only around Killian if she was really excited. However, she was just so ecstatic she was going to go to her own bed, in her own room. It made her way too happy to handle.

A little while later there was a knock on her door. "Come in!" She smiled.

Killian opened the door and walked in. "Hey, Swan. You seem happy," He commented and smiled, sitting down.

"Yeah. I am," She smiled and nodded. "I'm allowed to go home tomorrow morning."

"Oh, that's great, love," He smiled. "When do you think you'll go back to school?" He asked.

"I don't know. David and Mary Margaret will probably want me to rest a while. Or just spend time with me," She said.

Killian nodded. "Yeah, you're probably right. Plus, you don't want all that stress on you so soon," He said.

"Oh, Killian! I read your speech!" She smiled, picking it up off the stand.

"Really?" He raised an eyebrow. "Did you like it?" He asked nervously. He really hoped she liked it.

"Yeah. It was really really good," She smiled. "I can't believe you remembered a bunch of that stuff."

'Of course I remembered.' Killian thought.

"Oh, yeah, well I guess I have a really good memory," He smiled.

"Yeah, I guess you do," Emma smiled. "So, when I get back to school, have they changed anything? Is senior year easy?"

"Yeah it's pretty easy I guess. It's our last year, which is really exciting," He said. "We've had more pep assemblies. Probably because of you. Everyone is so scared of reality now."

"It's good you're back. Everyone missed you a lot. They even decorated your locker all fancy and reserved it so no one else had it. They decorated it with pictures and notes and stuff," He told her.

"Really?" She asked. "I didn't realize I was that big of a deal," She said.

"Really," he nodded. "You definitely are that big of a deal."

"Everyone signed this poster. Oh, and your funeral was pretty nice. I mean, as nice as a funeral could be. There were really good speeches, twenty times better than mine. Everyone was really upset. Your tombstone was always flooded with flowers and stuff." He said.

"Wow..." Was all she managed to say. She was mind blown. She didn't think anyone really cared about her.

"Wow indeed," Killian smiled. "You are very popular, love," He said. Emma blushed slightly and looked down, something she had always done.

Killian smiled. "Everyone missed you. They can't wait for you to get back," He said. "All the teachers missed you too. Even though you were popular you always participated in class."

"Well, yeah I guess," She said. "It's not that big of a deal."

"Well, it was to them. Except Gold. But to be fair he hates everyone," He said. Mr. Gold was their math teacher. He was unfair and unkind to everyone.

"Yeah, that's true," Emma smiled and nodded. "So how's everyone else doing?" She asked.

"Well, Ruby is still Ruby. She made a new friend. Don't worry, she didn't forget you. Now she's friends with this girl, Belle French." He told her.

Emma smiled. "That's good. I'm happy for her."

"And all your guy friends are doing well. They managed to stay together. Regina and Robin are dating now," He said.

"Oh really? I always liked them together. Although Regina would never admit she liked him," Emma smiled.

"Well obviously some tables turned there," He smiled.

They continued to talk and Killian continued to fill her in until it was time for him to leave again.
