'Biola what's up?' I say as I open up the door for her but she just stands in front of the door and doesn't come in.
Biola is a course mate of mine, who's also a member of Christina's dance crew, Dance Dynasty, and a member of the crew which Light introduced me to. She also stays in the room opposite ours. Recently, we both have been trying to relate to each other more because of so much that "joins us".'You're going for the Bash Hub meeting right?' She asks.
'Yeah.' I respond.
'Those people are even confused. I thought we agreed on having an online meeting on whatsapp. When did they change their minds?'
'Don't mind them jare. They said we all still need to know each other well, so physical meetings are better for now.'
'Okay o. Heritage park right?'
'Yeah.'
'Six pm right?'
'Yes.'
'Okay, call me when you're ready, please, let's go together.'
'Alright.'
She goes back into her room and just then Onana, who went to the market, arrives.
'Welcome' I say as I leave the entrance for her to come in.
'Thank you.'
Everyone in the room greets Onana and she replies all.
'What did you buy for us?' Dayo asks.
Onana makes it habit to buy snacks or fruits whenever she goes outside school.
'I bought suya.'
Did she just say suya?
'Ehn? Suya? In the afternoon? Abomination!' Chioma exclaims and this causes us to laugh.
'Suya without darkness, is that one suya?' Tife asks.
'I know right. Darkness is a major ingredient, we keep saying that.' Rose says gesturing dramatically.
'So you people won't eat it abi?'
'Afternoon suya. It might have as well been sold by an Igbo man.' Vanessa remarks.
Onana laughs 'It was a Yoruba man.'
'Ha!' We all exclaim and Onana just laughs.
'I'm not eating that.' Deb says.
'I'm also not eating.' Rose says.
'That's good. Minus two. Who else is not eating?' Onana asks.
'I'm eating o!' I exclaim.
'It's not bad to try it.' Chioma shrugs.
We all end up eating the suya, including Deb and Rose, and Onana makes fun of us while we do so.
'What did the Biola girl come to ask you?' Dunni asks and packs some "suya onions" into her mouth.
'We have a meeting today. She wants us to go together.' I say as I pack some suya crumbs which I throw into my mouth afterwards.
'Which meeting? Dance crew or the other one?' Tife asks.
'The other one, Bash Hub.' I pick up the newspaper which earlier contained the suya and go to throw it in the dustbin.
'It's called Bash Hub?' Mary asks.
'Yes. The website actually... And the group too anyway. Anything wrong with the name?'
'Nothing. It's not my crew.'
