The ravenette sat alone beside Chiba's hospital bed. She clutched his hand tightly. They had long since made up, with Kagami telling the depressed man that she no longer felt any ill will towards him as him bringing her up was more than enough to make up for it.
Her heart felt beaten up and she wanted to throw up. She never knew how brutal emotions could be. Still she charged on.
After Chiba's attempted suicide she played it off like she was perfectly fine but Ayato could tell she felt miserable.
As usual they would have basketball training in school but she just seemed so out of it. She would miss baskets that she made from too far away from the basket even though she had previously made shots from the ends of the court. He would always ask her what happened but she would brush it off as tiredness. Although that may have been a contributing factor seeing as the skin under her eyes turned a dark purple and bags formed in her preciously flawless skin.
She would also constantly miss meals, only cooking them but not taking even a single bite.
When she finally settled things with Chiba, Ayato could feel himself finally feeling relieved as the girl's dark circles vanished. She became a lot more energetic and ate normally again.
She also began showing expressions. Within the first few weeks of seeing the true her, Ayato would never admit it but his heart began to flutter whenever she smiled.
As the girl walked out of the hospital room, a hand pulled her aside. The scenery blurred by and she found herself in the middle of a basketball court. She glanced around in awe and turned to see Ayato grinning, dribbling a ball by his waist. She laughed and tossed her jacket aside, chasing after the boy as she reached for the ball.
They continued the standoff until Kagami tripped up the auburn haired male and managed to slip past him, ball in hand.
She shot and scored as Ayato got ready for the next round.
It was a few hours later when they got tired and had to take a short break. She slumped against him and laid her head on his lap. "Oi, H-Kagami-" she simply rolled off him onto the floor and grinned at him cheekily. "You're playing a dangerous game-" "Love ya too~" she cut him off laughing. A red flush covered his cheeks that he desperately tried to block with a hand.
He got up, the heat in his cheeks dispersing as he picked up the ball.
They played a few more rounds until Kagami's stomach rumbled. She looked a little embarrassed and Ayato stifled a snicker.
He pulled her arm, keeping her a little closer than necessary and teleported back to the mansion. She cooked up a quick meal and they both sat down. They chatted and talked and Kagami barely noticed the amount she ate until she went to clear the dishes. She dropped the plates back on the table with a clatter and dashed into a bathroom, locking the door.
Ayato chased after her and heard water running as well as gags and chokes. He ramed the door down and found the girl dry heaving over the sink, she looked pale and sick all around.
All the boy could do was pat and rub her back as the girl spewed out all of the food from the past day.
The moment she settled, he took her into his bedroom and played her down. He seemed at a loss of what to do with a sick human and went to look for Reiji. He returned a little bit later with a bottle of water and a bowl of soup, courtesy of Ruki seeing as Reiji only had the basic knowledge of how to care for a human. The girl paled at the sight of the soup but she still forced it down seeing how worried Ayato looked. She then laid down, keeping her mind off the nagging voice at the back of her head telling her to throw up the soup.
She laid down and felt the bed dip beside her. She turned to face an auburn haired male staring intensy at her with his green eyes. The next second she was in a tight embrace, his chin resting on her head as he burried them into the sheets.
"I-" "don't speak, just go to sleep." Despite his commanding tone, there was a slight warmth in his words that sung to the girl like a lullaby and they fell asleep in each other's arms.
