Chapter 1
❤Julia❤

"Yes mom I hear you," At this point I was trying not to yell.

"Julia get back here right now," My mom was already yelling at me for no apparent reason. Like most of these days now, she's drunk. Not to mention the only reasons she's yelling at me is, first, because my dad is gone again, second, she's out of either beer or wine, and third, I'm here.

"Mom, I've told you a million times that I want nothing to do with you when your drunk, especially because you want nothing to do with me anyway." I slammed my bedroom door in her face while she was still yelling at me. "Oh save your breath, " I told my mom. "We both know it's true." As she carried on outside my door, which was now locked, I started to drift asleep on my bed. I dreamed that one day maybe I would have a family of my own and I could imagine treating them far better than my parents have ever treated me. The wonderful dream lasted a while. Sadly it was disturbed by my parents yelling at each other down stairs in the middle if the night. No surprise.

"No, you can't do that to her," my mom screamed at him.

"I'll do whatever the hell I want to do with her, dammit, she's my daughter too." my father yelled back.

"Exactly. You shouldn't because she's your daughter." my mom said actually trying to take up for me for some reason.

"Who the hell cares?"my father screamed back.

I heard my father race down the hall towards my room. I had a terrible feeling. This felt worse than any other time my father has tried to abuse me. Also, by the sound of that conversation, he seems to mean bad as well. So I used my normal method for whenever I got scared. I climbed out the window, down the stairs on the side of the building from our apartment, and ran off into the dark by myself. I started to run as fast as I could. I ran through alleyways, streets, over fences. I was scared that my dad might find me. Finally a few blocks away from my apartment, I wedged myself between a dumpster and a pile of boxes. I felt as safe as I could get in a town like this. Still scared, I started to fall asleep. I didn't sleep long before a sound woke me up. I sat there for a few minutes before I came out. As I did eventually come out, I heard someone running. I saw them clearly too because it was a long alley, but they kept looking back at me. I assumed the person was a guy considering the hoodie, jeans and back pack they were wearing. As he was running away, I was just standing there watching him. As he turned for the tenth time to see if I had seen him yet, which I obviously did, he ran right into a fence and fell hitting his head hard on the ground. I may have jumped a little because the sound of the impact scared me a bit. He was just laying there on the ground. I felt like I couldn't just leave him there. He had seen me any way. He could torn me in to the police because legally I'm too young to be roaming the streets alone. So I had no other choice but to run after him. I wanted to at least make sure he was ok.

When I arrived I heard a police car making its way around the corner of the road beside the alley we were in. I didn't want to get into trouble for being out and I couldn't leave this guy because he had seen me and might give me away. He seemed to be very unconscious, so I dragged him behind a dumpster and hoped the police officer didn't see us. As they passed I held my breath, scared to even breathe. When they were finally gone, I was relieved. The guy on the other hand was still unconscious.
