I think this chapter will get right to the point...
Chapter 16
❤Julia❤I felt the tinglyness of Joe's warm breath on the back of my neck.
He was still holding me close, scared to let me out of his reach again. I felt him move and I knew he was awake too. He leaned over and kissed my temple.
"Good morning beautiful. How do you feel?"
"I feel better now that I'm with you."
I turned over and saw him smiling at me. I looked at him and this time I kept his stare. Seeing his tender smile made me smile too. I softly kissed him on the lips and climbed out of bed.
"I'm kind of hungry." I said.
He walked over to me and gave me a hug. "How about I order breakfast, and you get a nice hot shower." It did seem tempting so I took his offer.
I got a long, hot shower. The water felt good on my skin. I'm sure I was probably dirty from being gone a few days. I heard a knock on the bathroom door. It was Joe telling me breakfast was here. I dried off, got dressed, and headed out. The smell of breakfast was amazing, and it tasted just the same. Joe ordered me two pancakes with hash browns, bacon, and eggs.
"How do we afford room service every day?" I asked while starting on my pancakes.
"Well, apparently, my dad owns the hotel."
"Oh, that's right, I forgot." I guess I was too tired to remember anything last night. I find it pretty cool his father that he just met owns the hotel we work at. "How long has he known you were his son? Is that the only reason he hired us?"
"He talked to my mom after he hired us, and that's when he found out."
"Oh."
"Hey, do you feel like going anywhere today or maybe tomorrow?"
"Maybe tomorrow. I'm so tired."
"okay. Tomorrow then."
"For what exactly?"
"You'll find out tomorrow."
"Okay," I sighed.
I ate only less than half of my breakfast. All of a sudden, I didn't feel so good. I ran to the bathroom, Joe was running a safe distance behind me. He stopped at the bathroom door when I closed it.
"Are you okay?"
So much for breakfast, I threw it all up, along with Last night's dinner. It seemed like it went on forever. I did finally stop after a long ten minutes or so. My breathing was shallow, my heart heart was a slow pace, my head was spinning, and my stomach became very sore. For a second it seemed as if the world froze. I forced myself to sit up and I wiped myself down with the closest towel I could find. Then, unexpectedly, I collapsed to the floor. I was still conscious but I could feel myself slipping away. Joe heard me collapse and ran through the door.
"Julia! It's okay. I'm gonna get you to a hospital. I called my dad and he called an ambulance. Can you move?"
"No." I managed to say without vomiting again but feeling like I could, and almost did.
All of a sudden I heard a loud knock coming from the main room. "Is anybody in there? Hello!"
"We're in the bathroom!" Joe yelled to the medics.
They came bursting through the door and I heard someone yelling commands to the others. They came into the bathroom with a stretcher, counted to three, and lifted me onto it. Joe backed up but stayed close to me. He held my hands as they strapped me down to stay on. Joe was saying something to me, but I couldn't make it out. The sound of the world was becoming muffled.
I forced my eyes down to look into Joe's eyes. "Stay awake, don't go to sleep..." he was saying. I blinked a few times to keep myself awake. Next thing I knew, I was being loaded into the ambulance. Joe sat right beside me. My hands were still in his. I tightened my grip to let him know I was okay, then fell asleep.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I woke up in a hospital room. It had one window, the curtain was closed, and the only people in the room were two doctors, one nurse, Mr.baily, and then Joe. He was only holding one of my hands though. My eyes were barely open, nobody noticed I had opened them at all. I tightened my grip in Joe's hand.
"She's awake!" he told the doctor, his voice slightly to loud.
I tried to force my eyes open, but couldn't, so I'll just lay here.
"Julia?" the doctor asked, "How are you feeling?"
"Tired." I said it so quietly, Joe had to get closer and tell the doctor what I said. My head was facing Joe now. I forced my eyes open, but they would only open slightly. I started into Joe's eyes.
"Anything else?" the doctor asked me.
"My head is spinning, and my stomach feels like its on fire," I groaned.
Again, Joe repeated what I said to the doctor.
"Miss Baker," the other doctor began to speak, "we found traces of unknown drugs in your system. We are still working on identifying them."
"What's wrong with me?" I asked the doctor but again, Joe repeated what I said.
"The drugs inside you are giving you a rough time. We cannot give you antibiotics until they are identified. We are doing what we can."
I was speechless. I didn't even know how to react. I just laid there staring into Joe's eyes. He starred at me back and I saw the worried look in his eyes, the fear of losing me. I felt it too, and I wish I didn't.
