Chapter 24

❤Julia❤

I felt the warm sun beaming on my Cheek as I awoke.

I looked around only to find Tony sitting across from me snoring. Where's Joe? I thought to myself wondering. He must be at the hotel getting some rest. At least, I hope he was anyway. He could really use the rest. Tony must have heard me arousing because he awoke as well.

"Good morning." he said wiping drool from his chin.

"Good morning." I said still enjoying the warmth of the morning sun.

"Joe's not here yet?" he asked looking around.

"I guess not." I said sighing in disappointment.

Tony's cell phone began ringing in his pocket. As he pulled it out I asked him if it was Joe. He nodded his head in approval and answered.

"Hey Joe, where are you? We thought you would be here by now." There was a short pause before he spoke again."Okay... yeah sure... you did what?" He looked over at me and walked out of the room.

"Wait!" I said. "Tony! What hap-" he had already closed the door, not letting me finish what I was saying.

I tried looking through the window but the blinds were closed. I couldn't hear him very well through the door either. I had no other choice but to sit in silence until he came back in. What doesn't he want me to know? I thought to myself. What is so important?

Tony walked back into the room and sat down where he was before. He stayed sitting without a word, so I broke the silence.

"Tony!" I said impatiently. "What happened? What did you get all worked up about?"

"Alright! Fine!" he said turning to face me. "Joe has been here for about an hour."

"What? What do you mean? Where is he then?"

"Joe and my dad are with your doctor."

Why would he be with my doctor? What does Tony know that I don't?

"He's on his way here." he said. "He has something to tell you, and it's very important."

What does Joe want to tell me that's so important? As if right on cue, Joe, Mr.Baily, and my doctor (the older one), all walked in followed by a few other nurses. After everyone found a place to stand, or for joe and Mr.Bailey, sit, the doctor began to speak.

"Julia," he began, "I have splendid news for you! We have found you a liver that will do perfectly! Your blood type is A+, and the match is O+. Also, not only did we find one, but someone offered to donate. How it will work with a live donor is, the donor will have a portion of their liver removed and you will have your whole liver removed. The portion of their liver will be put inside of you, then you will both have a portion of a liver in your bodies. They will grow to their full size soon enough. You will both have to stay in the hospital for a few weeks as well."

This was all so much to take in. I was flabbergasted. I couldn't believe that they found me a liver. I started to tear up.

"Jewels," Joe began to talk now. His voice was soft. He sounded nervous, but he managed to continue speaking. "I told you that I would do anything to get you out of here alive, right?"

"Yes... Joe what-" I had become breathless.

"I'm your donor, jewels. I'm going to save you, just like I promised you I would."

I was sobbing now. I couldn't help myself. He reached over and placed his hand on my cheek.

"What's the matter jewels?" he asked, thinking I was greived. I started to chuckle at his misunderstanding.

"Joe," I said through sobs, "I'm not crying because I'm upset. I'm crying because I'm happy and I love you."

I heard a few people in the room go aww and I could tell that a few people were holding back tears. Joe didn't however. He became teary eyed and I saw a drop escape his eye. He came close to hug me, being careful not to hurt me because of my side. I hugged him as tight as I could. I didn't want to let go. Ever.

"Well," the doctor said, "The nurses will prepare you both for surgery. We begin in a few hours."

I was rolled to a different room on a different floor. I guess it was the operating floor. My new room had two beds. One bed was mine, and the other bed was for Joe. I was relieved to find out that we wouldn't be kept in different rooms, we would be too far away from each other.

Joe was sent to the bathroom to put on a hospital gown. He asked for an extra one though, that way he could put one on right and one on backwards. He said he didn't want his backside hanging out of the gown. I wish I had an extra one. When he came out he did a ridiculous pose that made everyone laugh.

The nurses finally prepped us for surgery, and Joe got into hisus.ed.

"Well," the doctor said coming in the room, "I see your all ready. Shall we begin?"

Joe and I shared a nervous look, but we both nodded our heads, letting him know we were ready.

"Well, let's get this over with then."he turned to walk out and gestured for the nurses to bring us. The nurses gave each of us a needle and followed the doctor.

We were led through hallways and double doors. When we reached the operating room, it was full of doctors. Joe's bed was placed beside mine, but far enough so that we couldn't reach each other.

"Jewels!" he called to me silently.

"Yeah Joe?" I looked over at him to see him smiling.

"Good luck. I love you." He closed his eyes and seemed to drift off.

"I love you too Joe." I felt the same thing he did. I drifted off into the deepest sleep ever.

Let the operation begin.

If I get anything wrong about them actually being in the hospital I apologize. I have only been in the hospital once or twice (not me personally, but I was visiting). But, how do you think I'm doing so far? Vote and comment please!
