Lucy's P.O.V
Honestly, I was afraid of what Chris would think of me if and when she found out about the Mill incident. If I was taking tonight off, I might as well ask her.
She was talking with Antonio in her room while sorting through her belongings. I couldn't understand what either of them were saying.
I lightly knocked on Chris's door. It grabbed both of their attention.
"Lucy!" Antonio spoke up. "¡Bienvenido! ¿Cómo estás?"
I gave him a blank and confused look. Chris put a hand on his shoulder and reminded him I didn't speaking Spanish.
"Ah! ¡Lo siento! I'm sorry. I want to ask how are you?" He corrected himself. I smiled, now knowing what he was saying.
"I'm doing much better than last night. That's for sure." I remarked.
"Bien." He smiled. "Your friends left already. Gorge was..." He stopped mid sentence and turned to Chris, "¿Cómo dices "enojado"?"
Chris chuckled to herself. "Angry." She finally said.
"¡Sí! Do you know why?" He asked.
"Honestly, it would be weird if George wasn't angry. It could be anything irritating him." I shrugged. He nodded to me and then left.
Finally, it was just me and Chris.
"His English needs a lot of work." She sighed to herself. "It's his first case outside of his country, so he's not used to speaking in English."
"Is he still training under you?" I asked.
"Yes. That's why he's with us." She confirmed. "It's also why Miki is with us."
I sat on her bed next to her things.
"Need something, Darling?" She looked over to me.
"Yes, actually." I fiddled with the hem of my skirt, uncomfortably. "It's about the paper you gave George."
"Yes? Was something wrong?"
"No, it's not that. I just was wondering..." I took a deep breath, "How long have you known that about me?"
"Known what? That you worked with the Jacobs agency? The Witherburn Mill incident? I always do my research before I decide to work with other companies. Especially about their agents. There's not much I don't know about your past. I know you're the youngest of 7, born in December, your father died when you were 3 - ran over by a train - you've been working with Anthony for going on 4 years now, you started working as an agent when you were 5, so on and so on." She explained.
I was honestly shocked and a bit creeped out. How did she know so much about me?
Actually, scratch that. I knew how. But that didn't make it any less creepy.
"If you think I've only done this to you, I haven't. I've been digging up as much as I could about your companies employees." She pulled out a file with various papers. Some were old, some were new.
"If you don't mind me asking..." I squeaked, "Why?"
"It's my job to know everything. I'm known for my research." She smiled at me. It didn't make me feel any better.
"Is that required for you to do?" Knowing her job was different from mine could be some sort of help.
"To an extent. You see, a lot of companies want to work with me because of my reputation as an agent. I always do research on the company I'll be working with. It's my choice to know so much about the agents I'll be working with. Typically I look into criminal records and previous jobs." She explained.
