George's P.O.V
"Are you hurt? Did it touch you?" Chris when on and on with her questions. None of which Lucy responded too.
Honestly, we were extremely worried about her. She was wide-eyed and pail. I looked to the glowing source laying about a foot or two away from her. I knelt next to it and stared into the reflection. I never got close enough to stare closely, Chris scooped it up into her coat.
Then we heard a scream. Chris jumped up and looked too the source of the screams.
It was Miki.
The shadow crow looked to be aggressively advancing to her. Lockwood, Holly and I knelt next to Lucy while Chris went to assist Miki. The shadow crow was almost about to touch Miki while Chris suddenly slashed straight through the thing. It disappeared instantly. Chris turned to Miki and checked her as well. Luckily she wasn't hurt. Lucy wasn't hurt either.
"What was that thing?!" Holly gasped.
"I suspect it to be a shade. At the most, a Specter. Quite strange the way it acts though..." She pondered.
"Not that! The other one that attacked Lucy!" Holly scratched.
"Oh. That one... Don't concern yourselves over it. I'll be taking care of her shortly." Chris checked her coat and revealed the glowing mirror. She looked so pissed off.
"HER?!?!" Holly shrieked.
"Thanks for blowing out my eardrum." I remarked.
"It was something from an old case. Look. As long as the mirror doesn't break, we'll all be fine. There's no reason to be scared. If it's on my person, it won't be able to harm anyone." Chris explained. None of us bought it.
"How can you be so sure about that?" One of the squeaky Jacobs kids asked.
"Because it's in my coat pocket. And this uses to be my mothers coat. When she was an agent, she had it lined with silver and iron to prevent ghosts from touching her. So as long as it's in my coat pocket, it won't be active." She seemed aggravated to explain it, but at the same time, she just seemed to be so tired.
"I never knew that about your coat. All I knew is that it was black and that if anyone else tries to wear it, you'd throw a fit." Kipps snarked.
"Yes, well, now you know something else about it. Now. The mirror problem is taken care of. Let's focus on the task at hand." She mumbled. Most everyone went back to being useful. I stayed with Lucy to make sure she was okay.
"Really Luce, you sure you don't want to go home?" I asked her, pushing my glasses back up my nose.
"I'm sure." She shrugged. "After all, that was just a scare I should've seen coming. Chris told me the story of the mirror last night."
"She did?"
"Yeah. A Chinese girl from the 1600's was murdered and because of the tradition there, she can only be sealed away. Burning her source will free her again."
"What?! That makes no sense."
"It does when you think about the time period and the beliefs of the people."
No, I didn't understand a damn thing. But I let it go. Lucy wasn't hurt and she didn't seem to be any less of herself. Maybe that scare helped her forget what was going on for a second.
"Ms. Madson! The ghost-!" One of the kids cried. We turned to see the ghost crow-guy leading into a different room. Chris called for a few people to stay outside the room to keep of from trying to escape, she called for Lockwood and Miki to join her in the room.
