George's P.O.V

I had never seen Lucy so nervous before. And that was saying something.

I felt horrid for dragging her into something she'd rather never be apart of again. But we needed her. There was no denying that.

By the morning, she was pacing in her room, back and forth. She seemed to be anticipating something.

"Hey, Luce." I called out to her.

She didn't give a response. Maybe she didn't hear me.

"Lucy?"

Nothing.

This was strange for her. Normally she would have at least looked at me. Now it was as if she was in her own world. Her eyes seemed to be blank and void of emotions. She swayed in her steps every now and then.

I got up and put a hand on her shoulder. She stopped, but didn't turn to see me.

"Luce, you okay?" I asked again.

This time, she turned slightly to look at me. It was her eyes that sent chills up my spine.

They were dull. Empty and lifeless.

I did not like this. They looked so strange. So horrible. So dead.

I took her arm and lead her to sit down. She followed my movements absentmindedly.

I took a moment to find some snacks. I always had some on me. When I looked back at Lucy, she was out cold.

Poor Luce. Must have not gotten a lot of sleep last night.

I left her room and entered my own.

Questions buzzed through my head like normal. Most of them about the case. Some were about Lucy, but I pushed those to the side. Those were ones that could be answered after we had solved this case.

I grabbed some of my papers I uncovered yesterday and walked downstairs.

"Cubbins-Kun?" A small voice caught me.

"Yeah?" I turned to see Miki standing stiff, blue dress and straight hair in small braids.

"Madson-San wants to see you and me in her room." She briskly turned and dashed upstairs. I sighed. I just came from upstairs!

Chris was in her normal attire. Black pants and boots, white blouse and those well known purple glasses. Her slim, bony fingers flipped through pages of newspapers and case files. This was one of the only times she wasn't wearing her gloves. And damn, her hands looked like they belonged to a Sector or a Shade.

Her eyes were focused on the papers, she didn't seem to like what she was reading.

"Chris?" I called out to her before Miki could stand stuff as a bored in her room.

Chris seemed to be caught by surprise. She jumped a little, shook her head and took her glasses off and rubbed her eyes.

"Good God, what time is it?" She muttered to herself. Then she looked at me. She looked so tired without her glasses. She looked like a single mum of 4 teens who don't get along and each have drug problems.

"For tonight, what is your boys plan?" She asked.

Plan? Lockwood? Planning things??

"We... Er, well..."

"You have no idea what you're going to do tonight."

"Yep." I popped the "p", enforcing my point.
