Kipps's P.O.V

I was never really one to take a haunting lightly. Especially when the haunting was taking place in and abandoned setting. Miki was packed and rambling on about some sort of gadget she was working on to make work easier. She was explaining how the strange device attached to her katana would make haunting easier to clear faster.

Lucy listened and hummed along and asked occasional questions while Lucy got her suplize together. Every so often, Miki would start speaking in her native language and Lucy would remind her that we (technically only her since I wasn't listening at all) couldn't understand her.

I wasn't someone to take to new technology that would "make things easier". I was old-schooled. I preferred flares and rapiers to whatever Miki was currently going on about. Which was odd since the Orpheus Society's goggles were serving me so well.

I was a "walking demonstration of irony" As Christina had always said.

Once the cabie stopped at the docks, we grabbed our bags and walked through the rusted gates. Miki shivered.

"What Type do you think it'll be?" Lucy asked.

"Probably a Cold Maiden." I said simply.

She hummed in response. It was hard for me to understand what that meant coming from Lucy. She simply looked around with a semi-interested look on her face.

While Miki set up a "home base" as she called it, I took the time to talk with Lucy.

"On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad do you think it would be if-"

"At least a twenty."

Lucy looked up at me and I could feel her glare. I had cut her off purely by instinct. Typically when Christina asked that, it ment she was going to do something stupid.

"I didn't even finish!" She shouted.

"I know, but it's probably a bad idea." I noted. No point in turning back now.

"You don't even know what it was going to be!" She huffed. I took one glance at her. She was very pissed off.

I shrugged and when to help Miki. I could feel her scowl peering at me.

"Maybe I shourd have asked Madson-san instead of Rucy-chan." Miki said in a hushed voice.

"No, Lucy's fine. She does some damn good work. Even if she's pissed off." I mentioned. I should know. I've seen Lucy do some good work despite her anger issues.

"But Rucy-chan-"

"Don't worry about her. She'll be fine." I commanded while pulling the Orpheus goggles over my eyes. If we really were dealing with a cold maiden, I would need them.

Every night I expect the same thing; ghosts, fights, occasional death, the like. That was what was normal for me.

But this wouldn't be an interesting story if it was a normal night, would it?

"Mr. Kipps!" It was John. I didn't turn to face him. I didn't want to. The bastered had tried to kill Lucy and Tony.

"Mr. Kipps, I must say that in such a hostile situation, you shouldn't be working out in the field." He demanded.

"I'm sorry. I only listen to sane men who haven't tried to kill others because of "experiments"." I put emphasis on the last word I spoke to point out how pissed off I was.

"Really now, Mr. Kipps, you have no reason to be so upset. I was able to gather wondrous information, therefore, helping others to be safe." He bargained. I wasn't having it.
