poor coonass Vernon was in terrible hellish pain
it was so bad .. i've to skip the gruesome, graphic details
I assure each .. every single one of you
he'd caught the worst end of it
i'd tears in my eyes .. scorching hot oil had landed on me too
Aunt Edna .. Aunt Sis .. were sloppy drunk, falling down
surrounding screaming Vernon .. trying to protect him
mom had her arms wrapped around grandma Eva
yet grandma refused to be denied .. smiling wickedly
she'd fought through .. poured the rest of the cooking oil all over him
he could be heard shrieking a mile away
please stop, Eva .. i'm sorry .. i'll never do it again
grandma knocked her daughters to the ground
coldcocked Vernon .. slapped his nerdy glasses off of his face
stomped down .. crushed them to tiny little pieces
she wouldn't stop cursing .. nor spitting on him
things calmed a bit .. Aunt Myrl bandaged Vernon's raw wounds
a good twenty minutes hadn't gone by .. knock knock on the door
who could it possibly be? .. Uncle Smokey, Aunt Edna's ex-husband
grinning like a cheshire cat .. asked if he could join the party
he was welcomed inside .. Aunt Edna liked truck drivers
Uncle Smokey .. Uncle Jimmy were pretty good friends
Aunt Edna's loves .. Jimmy .. Smokey .. had some talking to do
they got away from everyone .. each with a bottle of their chosen poison
Aunt Sis's husband .. Jimmy outdrank everybody except Vernon
began cursing loudly .. showing his crazy ass
Uncle Earl .. Uncle Max .. said fuck it .. they'd had enough
Arlis too .. crazy thing was .. mom and all my aunts
had ran off again .. back to the Cottonport Lounge
the men all drank .. cursed .. passed out near midnight
cousin Cyndi's boyfriend, Steve .. said you'll in for a little fun
sure, we replied .. he fired up some marijuana .. we toked it all
Steve had an ingenius plan .. him and cousins John Ed .. Dewayne
Dennis .. me .. my skinny brother Jimmy Don
all of us tiptoed across Fairfield Avenue to the hospital
chose a doctor's beautiful .. sun bright yellow Volkswagen
we picked it up .. carefully carried and set it down
dead center of the four lane Fairfield Avenue's intersection
ran back across the street to Aunt Edna's two story house
quickly turned the outside lights off .. sat low in large swings
inside the screened in porch .. not making a sound
you should've seen the doctor's face when his shift was over
he couldn't find his car anywhere .. he hastily called the police
stoned high .. laughing uncontrollably .. we were all a mess
police heard us .. came over with their flashlights beaming
asked had we seen a sun bright yellow Volkswagen
Steve stifled his laughter .. replied, is that it sitting in the intersection
red police lights flashing .. mom .. my aunts drove up
hazardously falling down drunk .. giggling in the late night hour
Aunt Myrl smashed her homemade lemon meringue pie
in Aunt Edna's husband .. Jimmy's bewildered face
on her .. Uncle Max's .. way out of town
