standing in the edge of the choppy gulf
schools of sharks were swimming by
I thought, oh no .. damnit, not again
suddenly a lady nearby began screaming
I rushed over to help her out of the water
her legs, thighs and back were blood red
jellyfish had stung the hell out of her
carefully laid her down on a beach towel
she was kicking sand everywhere
finally EMT arrived and took her away
the crowd dispersed .. things were crazy
I decided to stroll along the shoreline
spied an inhabited cove way ahead
stopped there .. explored for thirty minutes
it was totally mesmerizing to view
a fisherman pulling in a manta ray
undoubtedly he knew what he was doing
he finally beached the flopping manta ray
jumped up .. ran down the beach to it
pulled out metal spikes from a utility belt
a small anvil shaped hammer
tap tap .. soon he'd pinned
the flopping manta ray down
I thought it was unnecessary
to harm the manta ray for no reason
moseyed on down to another cove
fired up a joint of sweet sinsimilla
no sooner had I blown out smoke
the girl from the pier appeared again
so what if i'm still stoned high
all of my senses were working
telling me she'd followed
she said hey .. will you share
I replied .. sure, why not
seems she deserved it
passed her the sinsimilla joint
she took really deep, huge tokes
I pondered .. lungs on that girl
told her to smoke the rest of it
she'd a happy smile .. dancing in the sand
