slightly buzzed .. made my entrance
any such time there has ever been
a time to man-up .. is definitely now
i've never shied away from problems
I wasn't nearly about to change
dolly and alline were perched on barstools
looking like the princesses they are
regal alline .. from oodles of money
plain dolly .. from the poor side of town
both ever beautiful in neon light's reflection
my mom sitting quietly between them
tears glistening in both of my girl's eyes
racked the pool balls for a game of cutthroat
neither of them wanted to play billiards
so I shot the balls fast .. in numerical order
not a word was spoken the entire time
dolly spoke .. related she's giving me up
said she feared her dad would kill me
it's best we part on friendly terms
she asked if i'd give her a ride
I related to alline i'd return
she insisted on riding with us
drove to a block away from dolly's
she .. alline hugged before she got out
dolly and I whispered to each other .. I love you
we hugged for the longest .. said our goodbyes
looking lost, she walked away .. tears streaming
alline wore a smirk .. asked if i'm glad she's gone
I replied .. no, I love her like crazy
I love both of you .. yet differently
she asked me to explain
I related .. steve, your guy
is pacing at my mom's house
he's waiting .. asked to see you
flashback .. i'd driven by mom's first
there he was .. exiting a taxi
i'd no idea who the hell he is
so I stopped there just to see
he said i must be mike .. he has heard about me
still .. his heart forced him to chase after alline
