I did my same routine for when the boys last came to my flat for a movie night. I ordered a couple pizzas, popped some popcorn, and stocked the fridge with sodas. That’s usually what Chloe and I did when we watched movies. But usually we would watch complete tear-jerkers like Titanic or Forrest Gump. The living room would be full of tissues and mascara would be covering our cheeks, but we always had a fun time.
Obviously, I didn’t rent either of those. The last thing I wanted to do was cry my eyes out in front of a boy band.
My collection of DVDs must’ve been pleasing to them last time, so I didn’t have to waste time and money renting anymore movies. I know, I shouldn’t be putting so much trouble into this movie night, but I wanted to. I was actually going to miss these guys, no matter how much I did spend time with them. Yes, I would miss Louis the most, and I’m not sure how I’ll be able to cope with life here without him. We’d have to set up some kind of range of contact. Six months is a long time. It doesn’t sound long when you say it, but it is.
Now here we sat, trying to decide on the first movie. We were all spread out throughout the living room, except for Niall in the kitchen getting more food. Louis and I sat on the couch, Harry on the chair, Zayn lying in front of us, and Liam was sitting in front of the case with all my DVDs.
“So he sat on your rib?” Harry turned toward us. Louis nodded with a smile. That happened so long ago that we could laugh about it when we told people. I felt as though it wasn’t right, but I would laugh anyways.
“I can’t believe he didn’t even see me,” Louis looks at me.
“How bad did you freak him out?” Harry asks.
“He was pretty freaked out all right,” I answer. Harry laughs. Niall comes out of the kitchen and sits next to Zayn in front of us.
“So what are we watching?” Niall asks.
“Not sure yet, but Lola you have quite a collection,” Liam gestures toward me with a stack of DVDs in his hand. I look at the DVDs he’s holding and try to pick one out.
“Anyone up for a little X-Men action?” I suggest. I watch as they all nod and Liam pulls X-Men: First Class out of the stack he was holding. Once he puts it in the DVD player, I get up and turn the lights off as we all get comfortable. I grab the popcorn bowl out of the kitchen and pass it over the couch to Louis.
“Hey Lola,” he whispers. I kneel down behind the couch and face him.
“Yeah?”
“I hate to ask you do something, but can you get me like a bag of ice or something?” he asks. I nod.
“Of course, is your rib bothering you?” he nods.
“Just wait here then, I’ll be back,” I quickly scoop some ice into a clear bag and zip it up, then head back into the living room and pass it to him.
“Thanks love,” he says as I sit back next to him on the couch, covering ourselves with a blanket that was sitting on the ledge. He puts the bag of ice on his chest and clenches his teeth.
“Cold?” I question. He nods and adjusts the bag.
“But it helps, thank you so much,”
“No problem,” I say, leaning my head on his shoulder as the movie begins.
*****************************
“Are you crying?” Louis whispers, looking down at me. I shake my head as I quickly wipe another tear off my cheek. The boys suggested we watched Up, and we were right at the beginning. I couldn’t hold it in any longer when Ellie was about to die.
