Chapter 17: Jealous

This would be the night where I couldn’t sleep, where I’d lie in my bed and stare at my nightstand. My phones lies in dead silence there, but somewhere behind that screen and in that app is either hate or love for me.  That’s why I refused to log back in, it was too scary to see what everyone was talking about. At least I wasn’t being completely ridiculous, like delete my account or something.

But I knew my optimistic self too well, that if I may peek at the mentions there would be something good or bad.  I’ll just put this off for a while, try to think of something else as I turn to my other side in the bed. This wasn’t going to affect me in anyway. I wasn’t going to go and yell at Harry for posting it because it’s not that big of deal. Well apparently it’s a big enough deal to keep me from sleeping tonight.

That’s what I get, a ball being kicked to the face leads me to probably the next trend on twitter. Just wonderful.

Knock Knock Knock Knock-and it goes on for about twenty more times. I opened my eyes for the first time this morning, since I must’ve dozed off and slept through the real morning. The clock on my nightstand read 11:00 am, of course there would be someone knocking at my door. Which they still were as I got myself up quickly and brushed my hair down then pulled on a pair of my boot-slippers.

Luckily it wasn’t anybody super important, just Chloe who looked a little disheveled at my state.

“What?” I ask tiredly.

“Well then, good morning to you too,” she says sarcastically, walking right into my flat. I shut the door behind both of us.

“I’m supposing you saw?” I ask her. She nods.

“Yeah, I mean it’s not trending or anything, but the first thing to pop up on both you and Louis’ page,” she answers.

“That’s not really news to me, I haven’t logged back in since I saw the photo, I don’t even want to see what people are saying about me, good or bad in that case,”  she smiles at me.

“I’m glad you’re being so optimistic about this, and if it makes you feel even better I haven’t even checked,” she says.

“Okay, there’s no need to make this a huge deal or anything, I need to set this all aside and focus on life more, with no Louis in it,” her smile fades a little.

“What about Pat? Don’t you think he’s seen this already? I know how protective he gets over you, and if it’s anything to do with Louis he’s going to do something about it,” she remarks.  I didn’t really think about Pat in this situation because he didn’t really belong in this. It wasn’t his business that Louis and I had a movie night and happened to fall asleep on each other.  Yet I was surprised he didn’t come bursting in here and shoving his phone in my face with the photo plastered on it.

“I completely doubt he’s seen it, and if anything we’re not going to bring it up next time we meet,”

“Really? Well then, good for you,” she says her smile lighting back up. I return the smile and walk past her to go down my small hallway.

“Where are you going?” she yells to me.

“I’m going to go sort this out with Pat, make sure he’s okay with all of this, he’s a best friend and nothing more,” she scoffs at my answer. Of course she’d want Pat and I to be together, but I just didn’t see him like that.

“Good luck with that, I think my first novel will be about your guys’ love story and nobody will ever know!” I smile at her comment, putting on a fresh pair of jeans and a jumper, then brushing my hair out and pulling it up into a high ponytail. I grab my crossbody and stuff some money into it, then pulling my phone off the nightstand and texting Pat. I walk back out of the hallway and find Chloe again, leaning her head on her hand at my counter.
