Moon Storm sat with his back to the large tree, looking up at the sky.

"Things aren't going well today." He said.

On the other side of the tree, sat a spirit girl named Starry Leap. A violet lynx with deep orange spots and a jade necklace around her neck.

The truth was, she had never seen Moon Storm's appearance before, and he had never seen hers.

They sat at either sides of the tree and talked.

"Hawk got poison in his food today," Moon Storm said nonchalantly. "I'm not quite fond of Hawk, I feel as if he deserved the sickness."

Starry Leap laughed. Moon Storm was such a weird person to her. She never understood mountain-dweller culture, her being from the country. "And then Hawk and his sister went out to see the mountains, with White Feather of course."

Starry Leap smiled at this and hummed to him.

"Heh. Yeah, White Feather is nice. But, Starry Leap, I need advice. I don't trust Hawk. Everyone seems to like me and Gwennie, but him? He doesn't. He stays away from her, ignores her, and avoids her. I don't want him to end up hurting her."

Starry Leap flicked her ears and hummed.

"I guess so."

Moon Storm stood up. "I'm going to go home. Please, tell me about your eyes again, so I can remember them to.. Keep me calm."

Starry Leap smiled and hummed.

Moon Storm repeated her. "Emerald, feminine, bright and shiny like the moon as the sun has just come down.. Thank you."

Starry Leap smiled at the sky. Quite the man Moon Storm was.

-

Moon Storm's first thing he saw upon entering the cave was commotion. Everyone was rushing around, talking and acting worried. But then he realized Gwennie was not in the busy crowd.

He ran down the tunnel for the healer's cave. This couldn't be what he thought it was.

"Ripple!" He shouted into the room. "What's going on?!" His voice cracked heavily in worry.

Ripple sighed. "Gwennie began vomiting strange substances today." She said, looked down at the ground.

Rock carried some herbs in his beak, dropping them on the ground. "I hope she isn't sick forever, I hope she will not die." He said in a strangely poetic voice.

Ripple smiled, though it was clear she was still worried. "And though she may be sick for now, I'm strong and will not cry."

Rock flew around in circles. "And whenever I think of sickness it makes me wonder why!"

Ripple then flew into the air with him. "Why.."

They then sang in unison. "Why those who die make me cry and never want to fly,"

Moon Storm interrupted the two. "Okay, but, where is she?"

Ripple flew back down. "I wouldn't suggest going to her right now, she's still throwing up."

Moon Storm sighed. "Okay."

Rock then flew down. "I forgots to mention! Gwennie nose got infected by a nasty poison goo, she can't smell no more."

Moon Storm looked even more worried at the news.

"The poison drip from her nose, so don't go and be touching it, alright?" He told Moon Storm, who just nodded and walked off.

-

Moon Storm sat by Gwennie, who looked down at the ground and cried.

Gwennie would never be able to hunt. Never be able to experience the scents of the town, and sweets, and success. She was a failure.

Moon Storm's heart filled with rage. This was HAWK'S fault! He did this! There's no other explanation beyond that.

Storm walked over to the two. "You two okay?" She said worriedly.

Gwennie nodded, but was still sad.

"I'm sorry this happened, Gwennie." Storm sighed. "I'm not a good parent."

Gwennie choked out a "It's not you, mom."

Storm looked down. "No. It is. I wish we knew why this was happening to you."

"Me too." Moon Storm said sadly. "I'm going to bed."

As Moon Storm entered the room, he made a mental note of how everyone was acting. See if anyone's suspicious, he thought.

Hawk sat asleep, curled up and smiling wide. Was he.. Blushing? Ew.

Sky was eating a mouse in a way that was quite new to him. She tore into the mouse, getting blood just about everywhere.

Spark Storm was there, for some reason, sitting with Alder Tail, Lightning and White feather, who was holding strange little cards in her paws.

Moon Storm settled down. I still believe it's Hawk's fault.
