Gwennie was sitting in the grass in the forest, poking her paws at the bugs and raindrops.
Suddenly, she heard an angered yell from behind some of the trees.
"Give it back, Feather Tail!"
Gwennie's ears flattened, could this be another fight going on?
Suddenly, a small arctic fox popped out of the bushes, a squirrel in her jaws.
Gwennie looked at the fox, amazed at her white fur and shiny blue eyes.
Then she looked at her appearance.
Her fur was not matted, she did not have scars.
"Why are you hunting?" She asked the fox, who jumped in surprise.
"Ah!" She shouted.
"O-oh. I didn't mean to frighten you!" Gwennie reassured nervously.
"It's okay, just shocked I'd see someone out in the forest. My cousin wanted me to hunt with him, to get away from his parents."
"Oh! Who's your cousin?" Gwennie asked.
Jay Wing popped his head out of the bush. "Oh. It's you." He scoffed.
Gwennie sighed. She would make him love her, she just knew it.
But she looked back at Jay Wing's cousin and felt weird.
"I'm Feather Tail." The arctic fox said to her.
"I'm.. Gwennie." Gwennie said, still looking at Feather Tail's crystal blue eyes with a smile.
"Cool, cool." Jay Wing groaned. "This is my stupid school friend, Gwennie, she's pathetic and a liar." Jay Wing snapped, before walking off.
Feather Tail laughed. "Sorry about him, he's been grumpy recently. Are you okay?"
Gwennie nodded, but couldn't take her gaze off of Feather Tail.
"So, what do you like, do, as a townsperson and all?" Gwennie asked Feather Tail.
"I learn how to make medicines and work in hospitals." Feather Tail said simply.
"Hospitals? What's a hopsital?" Gwennie asked, butchering the word "hospital."
"Oh, I forgot, you're a cavedweller. Well you see, instead of giving our animals herbs and plants, we give them little pills that make them feel better after they eat or drink one. If you get hurt real bad, you go to a hospital to get healed."
Gwennie nodded. "I get that, so like a cool.. Future healer den?"
Feather Tail laughed. "Basically, yeah!"
"I'm gonna go," Gwennie began, but Feather Tail stopped her.
"Before you do!" Feather Tail quickly gave Gwennie a kiss on the cheek, which confused Gwennie.
"It's a way to say goodbye to someone you like! We could have it as our secret little code." Feather Tail smiled.
Gwennie rubbed her paw against her cheek where Feather Tail kissed her. "I'd like that, yeah."
Gwennie waved to Feather Tail and began her walk back home.
-
Gwennie dropped the squirrel that Feather Tail caught on her bed and ate slowly.
"Where'd you get that?" Sky asked.
"Oh, well, I went out hunting, and I met my school friend's cousin.. She's very nice."
