"Gwennie? Is something on your mind?" Starry leap asked Gwennie, who was staring up at nothing.

"Huh?" Gwennie realized what Starry Leap had asked. She wouldn't believe me if I told her what I saw in my dreams.. Gwennie thought.

"I can read thoughts, yknow." Starry Leap laughed. "It's a perk of being a spirit. But, tell me about your dreams."

Gwennie stopped thinking entirely and made the impulsive decision to lie to Starry Leap.

"I have dreams of Hawk, my half-brother, drowning me in lakes. He laughs, and cackles, and it's because.. Because he.." Gwennie broke down in tears again. "He hits me. He abuses me every day, and tells me he wants me to die."

Starry Leap put her arm around Gwennie. "Oh, dear, it's alright. I'm here for you."

Gwennie sobbed into her paws, and ran off, hoping that Starry Leap wouldn't hear any more of what she was thinking.

Gwennie hit her head into the snow.

Her dream went by quick, she opened her eyes to see Hawk, someone by his side.

She focused more. Hawk's paws were coated in a scarlet red.. And the man by her side was..

Jay Wing.

Gwennie had known Jay Wing, he was her friend at school, and she was in love with the boy.

But Jay Wing did not look worried.. He looked stern. Like he was disciplining a child after they did something wrong. What was going on?

Gwennie snapped back awake.

"He won't be taking Jay Wing from me. No." She muttered.

-

Gwennie returned to see a bloodied Hawk standing by Jay Wing and White Feather.

Gwennie needed to tell Jay Wing about what Hawk was "doing" to her. But how?

Hawk panted and sat down, a large cut on his chest.

White feather's neck and right eye were bleeding heavily, as well.

Jay Wing was not hurt, but he had a bruise on his shoulder and carried herbs in his jaws.

"What happened?" Gwennie asked Ripple, who was bringing herbs over to the three.

Jay Wing sighed. "Hey, Gwennie. Hawk and White Feather got into a fight with some of the adults in town, and.. They kind of hurt them. Bad."

Hawk coughed and then leaned on Jay Wing, who didn't show any concern about the blood in his fur. This disgusted Gwennie heavily, seeing Jay Wing get used like that. Hawk probably didn't even love him anyway!

"Jay Wing, may I speak to you, for a moment? Alone?" Gwennie asked.

Hawk nodded and moved away from Jay Wing, his expression still emotionless.

Gwennie took Jay Wing far from Hawk and whispered to him.

"Hawk isn't a good person." She whispered.

"What?" Jay Wing asked. "H-how?"

"He hits me, abuses me, claws me, he hurts me, Jay Wing! On purpose! He hopes that I die!"

Jay Wing shook his head. "N-no. Hawk wouldn't do that. You're nothing more than a liar, Gwennie."

Gwennie's heart shattered.

"I am NO liar!" She shouted, suddenly unable to control her anger. "I'm RIGHT! He is a DISGUSTING RAT THAT DOESN'T BELO-"

Jay Wing slashed his claw right across Gwennie's chest. "SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

Gwennie hit the ground.

"Jay Wing.. Why?"

Jay Wing stood above her and narrowed his eyes.

"You're wrong."

He walked back to Hawk, refusing to even look back at Gwennie.

Gwennie stood up and left, entirely shocked and heart-broken by the quick interaction.

If Jay Wing wouldn't love her, she'd make him love her.
