Hawk trudged through the freezing snow.
He wanted to see her. He wanted to come back to Dream Stone.
He needed to know what Dream Stone did to Gwennie.
Hawk started running through the snow, making loud crunching sounds under his paws.
"DREAM STONE!!!" He shouted into the blizzard. "Reveal yourself!"
He stopped as he stepped one of his paws into freezing water.
He sat down. "A lake.." He murmured.
He looked down into the lake.
But he saw someone by his side in the mirror image.
Jay wing?
He turned to his side. Nobody was there. He turned back to the lake and saw blood on his paws.
He gasped. What was going on? What was the lake doing? Was this.. His future?
He saw Gwennie standing behind him. She was tall, her fur green and falling off. A large heart earring hung from her ear and she looked emotionless.
Hawk stepped back. "No!!" He shouted at the lake. "NO!!!!" He slammed his paw hard into the cold water, and drifted off to sleep.
-
Hawk opened his eyes. He was in the middle of the healer's den, Rock and Ripple picking up herbs in their beaks and crushing them with their feet.
"What the.."
Ripple turned to Hawk. "White Feather found you asleep by the lake when she was hunting. You may have a cold."
Hawk coughed up a yellow goo. "Ack.. Hg.." Ripple flew over and scooped the stuff up with a towel. "You're sick. You need to stay here."
Hawk panted. "I am not.. Sick."
"You just coughed up the weirdest thing I've ever seen!" Ripple retorted.
"I am FINE." Hawk snapped. "FINE!"
Sky rested on the door frame of the healer den. "Hawk.. I got someone for you."
Jay Wing stepped through the door and sat by Hawk.
"I heard you were sick." He said, incredibly worried.
Hawk smiled. "Yeah.. I went for a walk and passed out in the cold."
Jay Wing put his nose to Hawk's. "It's gonna be fine. I bet it's only the flu."
Hawk shook his head, though. "No. I threw up a weird slug thing." Jay Wing sighed. "I brought you some honey milk." He said quietly. "It'll help your stomach."
Hawk took a sip of the milk. It was sweet, by far one of the best things he'd tasted, even better than that candy rabbit. "Thank you.. Jay Wing." Hawk's eyes welled up with tears, nobody had cared this much for him before.
"Ah!! Are you okay?? I didn't mean to make you sad-" Hawk touched his paw to Jay Wing's cheek. "It's okay.. I'm just.. Ugh."
Hawk coughed yellow goop onto Jay Wing's fur.
"Hh.. Oh.. Shit." He groaned.
Jay Wing looked at his fur. "Oh.. I'll go wash in the lake. It's fine." He smiled. "Anyways, I gotta be home now, it was nice talking to you!"
Hawk smiled. "Yeah, you too.."
Hawk took one more sip of the milk, then rested his head in his paws and cried so hard no noise came out.
Ripple came back a while later. "Honey milk? I see Sky brought you a gift." Hawk sighed. "Yeah, Sky.."
Ripple looked away, but Hawk remembered last night.
"Ripple... I need to tell you why I fell asleep in the cold." He said.
Ripple turned to him. "Hm?"
"I saw visions.. In the water. I saw me standing next to a close friend of mine, both of us with happy smiles on our faces.. Then I saw me.. My hands were coated in a ton of blood. And then, I saw me.. With Gwennie's corpse standing behind me and staring into my eyes."
Ripple gasped. "I've never.. Seen.. Anyone that's done that."
Hawk looked confused. "You haven't?"
A smile curled onto Ripple's face. "You are unique, Hawk. You're special."
Hawk shook his head. "No. I'm not."
He went back to sleep.
