I was still sitting outside the room at the hospital. It had been hours since we arrived, and nothing had happened, besides a guy spilling coffee all over himself.

Her parents weren't out here either, and no one had come out to greet us, so I decided to lightly knock on the door. And nothing happened. Nobody answered.

So I started to become frustrated. Michael looked at me with a worried look, until the door finally got opened.

It was her dad who came out.

"Ashton, glad to see you here." he said, softly hitting me on the shoulder. I had always liked Fae's dad. He was really cool, and was that guy who broke awkward silences, and always stayed calm in stressed situations. He seemed quite chill now too, but he's eyes were scary, and I could see a clear worry in them.

"What happened to her?" I asked, not bothering waiting for him to tell it himself.

"We called you because I know you're close to Fae. We think you should know." he said, ignoring my direct question.

"Of course I'm close to Fae. I've known her for 3 years." Well, that was not quite the truth. Yeah, I had known her for 3 years, but we had only been together since the sophomore year, and it had taken some time for me to get her on a date. I tried not to smile at the memory. I didn't think it was appropriate to smile in this situation.

"Ashton, it happened this night. It was after she had been talking to you, or I assumed it was you. But don't worry, it has nothing to do with that. But suddenly we just heard a scream..."

~

The home of the Jensen's was very peaceful that night. Fae's parents listened to the small voice of their daughter on the phone, only assuming it was with her boyfriend.

After that the house went silent, like every other house on the street. Even the atmosphere was sleepy and calm, until a heartbreaking scream was heard that night.

Fae's parents and sister immediately woke up, utterly confused by the loud scream that echoed trough the house. When another scream was heard, Fae's parents flew up and stormed towards the scream that came from their daughters room.

Her father busted the door open, only to find his daughter laying on the floor, screaming for help, with a clear pain in her face. She clearly had a struggle breathing, and she was shaking. Her mother sat down next to her, trying to talk to her, but it didn't seem like Fae heard anything. Tears began to stream down her cheeks, as her mom held her hand.

"Why does it hurt so much?" she cried out. She didn't want people to know she were en pain. She wanted to know why she were in pain. She had had her legs under her chin, and her hand over her chest.

"Call an ambulance! Quick!" her mother screamed out to her dad. Her dad ran out of the room, and did what Fae's mother had told him to.

The ambulance arrived minutes after, and Fae and her mother got in the ambulance. It didn't get better, and Fae kept on screaming, pressing her palm to her chest. Every single scream could easily shatter a persons heart. Her mother finally began to cry too.

"Please, stop the pain." Fae cried. She continued mumbling the same words, even though the helpers from the ambulance assured her she would be fine.

When they arrived to the ambulance, Fae got quickly led to the emergency room. Her mom standing outside sobbing aimlessly, until her father arrived at the hospital with Fae's little sister. They told her to go find a sofa to sleep on, and she quickly left again.

And then the little family waited. They saw doctors came in and out of the room. Her mother had stopped cried, and was now seeking comfort at Fae's father. They decided to call Fae's boyfriend, Ashton. Fae had told them he was going on tour, but they still thought it was important for him to know.

He was shocked, and he quickly promised to be at the hospital.

Minutes later the family got called into the room. And there she was on the hospital bed, lying there with a oxygen mask over her nose.

"We have put her in a coma." a doctor told them. Fae's mother started to cry again, looking at her pale young daughter forced into a deep sleep.

The doctor began to explain.

Fae have had an attack of some sort, so that her blood veins had stopped transporting oxygen to her heart, so her body had reacted in desperation, so they needed to put her in a coma, so her body wouldn't have a shock. Which could have caused consequences, the doctor explained.

-

"They said she has a heart failure, that has only started to show now." her father said, and the water began to collect in his eyes. His hand was on my shoulder as an comfort.

"No... How?... She can't.." was the only thing I could stammer.

"I know you wanna see her, but the doctors are still in there trying to figure the fail out. They say it's rare." He now pulled me in for a hug, but I wasn't reacting. The only thing I was trying to handle was this new information.

I don't know what I had expected. I thought she had been in an accident, but I knew she were at home at that time. I also thought about some food poisoning, but this hadn't been one of my options.

"I need to go back in there. I will give you all the information I can." he said and disappeared again.

My girlfriend was in the hospital. She was in a coma. She had a heart failure. I didn't know what was coing to happen, but it was obviously serious.

"Dude..." Michael said and came up from behind. I turned around and saw his face. It was filled with worry, and I think it was pointed towards me.

Without any hesitation I pulled him in for a hug, and he immediately gave away and just clung to me. I began to cry. Of course I was crying. I would have been ice cold if I weren't. And we stood that way for a long time, while I just continued crying about Fae, and Michael didn't seem to mind. From time to time I would fist the back of his shirt in anger, because the word "WHY" would pop into my mind.

This always happens to other people. This shit is something you see in movies, not with your own eyes. This is something they write in Hollywood and make a great pile of money out of. This couldn't happen to my Fae. She hadn't done anything to deserve this. She was the best at living and being human, to be honest.

I had always felt like she had figured out life a long time ago. She was way ahead of all of us. And that was what I loved about her. She was better than everybody. But she never noticed.

Michael pulled away.

"Ashton, we don't know how serious this is. It can easily be fixed, everything can these days." he said to calm me down. It didn't work though, but I believed nothing really did.

"Fuck, I love her. This can't happen. She is so strong... and... I need her." I broke down sobbing again. This wasn't fair at all. I wanted to switch hearts with her. I wanted to ease her pain, and see all the things I loved so much about her again.

Her smile. Her contagious laugh. Her shining eyes. Her hands I used to hold. Her voice that would calm me down.

3 years, and then a single night, only a couple hours, could wash out all those years.
