Chapter 10 New Mexico

Jacob POV

The heat was starting to get unbearable. Coming from Forks Washington, where there is almost no sunlight., to the desert was going to be a tough adjustment. It looked so...dead. Everything was brown and red, houses were made mostly of those adobe brick. We took a turn onto a long gravel road. We were stopped at a gate, a man came to the driver's window, he looked Native. Ness rolled her window down and gave him a warm smile.

"We are the Blacks and we are moving in." The sound of her using her new name felt great. The guy looked his list over and gave us the go ahead. We drove for a mile or so, there were houses everywhere. Other Natives outside going about their business. They all looked up as we passed. I am guessing it was because we were driving a brand new car that cost more then what they made in a year. Ness said we were looking for house number 1518. We finally turn into a cultisack. All of Sam's and I pack were all outside moving things in. They saw us coming and ran over to the car.

Seth opened up Ness's door "Hey you guys made it! We thought you guys weren't ever going to get here. Jacob driving too slow Ness?"

"Seth shut up, I was just taking a rest and giving her some time to drive our NEW CAR! What do you all think?" Turning and asking everyone. They were all allover the car, checking it out, examining it, and talking amongst themselves. I know it was such a "guy" thing, but what could I do.

"Hey it's the Newlyweds!" Sam came running over to us. He gave Ness a hug. Emily soon came behind with their kids. They saw me and ran over, I knelt down and opened my arms. They jumped on me and tackled me to the ground. We started wrestling, Sam had been teaching them moves to pull on me, but someday I would get them.

"I am going to get you guys, no way are you winning this time!"

"Kids leave uncle Jacob alone!" Emily scolded them. I reached up and gave her a hug.

"Hey lady, how are you doing?"

"I am just glad that we are all here and safe now." I looked up at Sam and asked

"Any word on anything?"

"Not yet, but things are looking up." I could tell that he was trying to keep the mood light. "So you two want to see your new house?"

Ness giggled at the thought of OUR house. I had to admit, I liked the sound of it. "Sure!" I replied.

"Well it is all yours. This is it, 1518. Your new home!" Handing us the keys. I gave him a look, telling him to give us some privacy. "Okay crew everyone out! Let's give the newlyweds some privacy." Voices started to mock and laugh as they faded out. I looked back to the car to make sure that it was still there in one piece. I was amazed to see they had already unpacked everything for us into our garage. "You know Sam" I said "This is a really nice neighborhood for a reservation."

"Well, they were very friendly to us with allowing us to live here. They wanted us to have the best." He gave me a quick wink and walked away. I knew that he had family that lived down here, must have pulled some strings. I turned back around to find my new bride. Ness was staring at the house. I went over and wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her close. She turned around to face me and wrapped her arms around my neck. "Well Mrs. Black, what's the verdict? Will you be happy here?" She gave me a kiss on the lips and smiled.

"I am going to be happy where ever life takes me, as long as you are there." I gave her a kiss back and laughed. I had her up in my arms and was running to the front door.

"Hey! Put me down."

"Nope, it is customary my fair lady for the groom to carry the bride across the threshold."
