Chapter 16 It Settles In

Jacob POV

Ness finally got to talk to her parents after finding out that we were pregnant. Bella of course with every other female in that house, was thrilled. The men, we were terrified. Even Jasper and Emmett didn't know what to do about this one. Carlisle had finally called us back, he explained that this pregnancy could go two ways. One, that the baby would be perfectly fine, it would develop fast, not nearly the 3 week pregnancy of Bella, but fast none the less. He mentioned that with both of us having half human sides, that it may rule in our favor, Ness could deliver a normal baby with a normal birth. But two, that since the baby is half vampire, and half werewolf, the baby could tear her apart from the inside. Being part werewolf, it could transform inside of her.

Ness, even with these theories seemed calm and excited. I knew it was hurting her to not see me jumping for joy, but I couldn't help but be afraid. Who wouldn't be? I had been avoiding talking to Ness all day evening. I couldn't see her the same, I couldn't help but feel guilty for doing this to her. I decided I had to talk to her eventually. The walk to the bedroom, seemed like the longest walk of my life so far.

"Ness?" I opened the door and found her standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom, she had her shirt lifted up, so her stomach was exposed, and was rubbing her flat stomach. She didn't acknowledge me being there, she just went on dreaming away in the mirror.

This sudden wave of love swept over me. I felt weak, my heart started to pound, my breathing became heavier, My head was swimming. My eyes just stared in awe at my beautiful goddess, there she was, standing there completely perfect, and, pregnant. I was hit by this new love, the love for our unborn child. I shook my head, trying to regain my composure, what did this mean? A few minutes ago, I had wanted to get rid of it, but now?

Ness was glowing, she was radiating love everywhere. Her eyes were filled with a deep love that I had never seen before. This child would change everything. I prayed with everything that I had, for Carlisle's first theory to be right. Ness wanted to have a child, MY CHILD, and my heart was saying the same thing. I wanted nothing more then to have a baby with her.

Ness caught me staring at her and turned around and smiled. My arms wrapped gently, around her waist. I leaned down towards her, she leaned up to me to meet my kiss. I knelt down on the cold floor and put my hands gently on her stomach. Her hands gently rested on top of mine. My ear rested softly against her stomach. Ness just put her hands on my head and held me there. I couldn't help but be in awe, our baby, one that was only a dream, and seemed distant, has now become a reality. A tear fell gently across my cheek bone. I loved this child, I would do what ever I could in my power to protect it and Ness. Nothing else mattered at this moment then Ness, and our baby.

I kissed her stomach softly and brushed my fingers across her stomach. When I looked up, Ness was crying. I knew that she was happy that I had changed my mind. And that I felt a love just like she did.

"I love you more then anything." I whispered. My forehead met hers.

She half smiled, "I love you too."

My hand found her stomach again, "This baby, will change our lives, but we can and will do this." I promised.

Tears were flowing from both of us now. We just wrapped our arms around each other and stayed in that moment. "Ness, I need to alert the packs to our news. I need to tell them that we are leaving."

"Where are we going?" She asked concerned.

"We need to get back to Washington. We both don't know anything about this pregnancy, and it will be easier to handle, and have the baby delivered if we are with your family. Carlisle is the only who can deliver such a baby."

"Yeah you're right. Do you think it will be safe for us to return? What about the hunters?"

"We will sneak in, and just remain at the house. They don't have to know we are there."

She nodded in agreement with a kiss. "I won't be far, just outside if you need anything."

I pulled out my phone and dialed Sam's number. "Sam, could you alert the packs, I need to meet with you all, just outside will be fine." Hung up and made my way outside to the street.

"What's going on Jacob?" Embry asked.

"I have something I have to tell you guys. Ness is pregnant." Cheering and laughter erupted. Pats were hitting my back and congratulations were everywhere. "Thanks guys, but this is serious. We don't know what exactly we are dealing with. You guys remember to when Bella was pregnant with Ness. We were all terrified that it would be a monster, and it turned out to be great. But we are dealing with more then just vampires and humans, we are also dealing with werewolf too. So you can see the problem."

"What are you guys going to do?" Seth demanded.

"Well, after talking with Carlisle he has come up with two theories. One, that the baby will be normal and healthy. But two being, the baby could kill Ness, being werewolf, it could transform inside of her. Tear her apart."

Everyone gasped. They all saw the potential problem we had.

"What are you wanting to do Jacob?" Sam said through his teeth. He knew that this would mean me and her leaving. And I could tell, he did not like the sound of that.

"Ness and I need to return to Washington. With this type of baby, we need to have her family near for help. The Doc is the only one who can deliver a baby like this."

Eruption of disagreement came next. "Jacob you can't do that." "Jake what about us?" "They will know you have returned and surely kill us all."

I threw my hands up to stop everyone. "Look, I know the danger, but if we stay here, Ness could die. Not one of us knows anything about this. We would have no idea what to do." They couldn't argue with that. "Look, I know the danger of returning. We will be extra cautious. Ness and I will remain in the Cullen home the entire time we are there."

"Jacob, I do not like this."

"I know you don't Sam, I don't either, but there is no other way, we didn't see this pregnancy coming, and I have to do what's best for her." I gave them a short pause to think it over then walked back to the house. I could hear them discussing amongst each other from behind me.

"Ness?" I said calmly looking through the house. She was in the kitchen eating some toast. She saw me and smiled.

"How was the meeting?"

"Good, they are not happy about us leaving, but they understand the reason why we need to leave."

"Jake, are you sure that we should return, maybe Carlisle and my parents could come here?"

"I don't think they can. With the hunters still investigating this, they will be watching your families every move."

"Okay, so we are going back to Washington?"

"Yep, we are going back to Washington."
