Dean woke up at 6 am the next morning and dragged himself out of bed.

"SAM!" He shouted, knocking relentlessly on his brother's door. "We have to get ready for school!"

"Fuck off!" Sam shouted back, sleepiness evident in his voice.

Dean went to wake Adam up, who got up without any objections, retreating to the bathroom. At 7, Sam finally woke up and got dressed. He went downstairs, where Dean was sitting at the table, a pitiful bowl of cereal sitting in front of him.

"Here." Dean spoke, pushing the bowl in front of Sam. "Take my breakfast."

"But it's your breakfast." Sam objected, and Dean shushed him.

"You're my little brother and I'm not letting you go to school hungry. Eat." Dean replied sternly, standing up to pour a glass of water for himself. Sam ate the bowl of cereal quietly, watching his brother. "You done?" Dean asked a few minutes later, and Sam nodded. "Great. It's 7:30, school starts in an hour. We need to go."

When Dean walked into English, he saw Charlie waiting for him, a smile on her face. "Hey Dean." She chirped as she tied her hair into a ponytail. "Agh, stupid hair."

"You don't like your hair?" Dean questioned, and Charlie nodded.

"It's a hassle sometimes. I wish it was shorter. I kinda wanna get it cut, but my mom likes it long. She won't take me, and I don't have my own car."

"I could drive you. I have my own car." Dean offered.

"Really? Oh thank you!" Suddenly, Dean's stomach grumbled, and Charlie laughed. "Hungry?" She asked. Dean nodded, and Charlie pulled a snack bar from her bag. "Here. My mom gave it to me, but I'm not usually hungry in the morning."

"Thanks." Dean spoke, munching on the bar. Charlie waved her hand, and the two of them focused on the teacher, who had just walked in.

When Dean went to math, he sighed as he saw the board. The teacher stood in the front and told them he was making them do a small group project, and they all had to get partners. As Dean groaned, a boy approached him; the boy who sat in front of him.

"Wanna be partners?" The boy asked.

"Sure." Dean replied, shrugging. The boy sat next to him and grabbed a sheet of paper. Their project was to solve the questions on a worksheet the teacher had handed out.

"I'm Castiel Novak." The boy spoke.

"Dean. Dean Winchester." Dean stated.

"Nice to meet you Dean." Castiel responded. His voice was rather deep, and it took Dean aback. "Are you good at math?"

"Hardly." Dean laughed. "I'm only really good at gym and science. You?"

"I'm good at math. I don't particularly enjoy it, but I'm good at it." Castiel responded, shrugging. "I prefer my creative writing class."

"You like writing?" Dean asked, raising an eyebrow. Castiel nodded.

"I wanna be an author, like my dad. What about you?"

"I'm thinking of becoming a mechanic." Dean replied aimlessly. "I love cars and I'm good at fixing them up."

"A mechanic sounds like a good job." Castiel commented, a soft smile on his face. Dean smiled back, before pulling out his pencil and focusing on the first question.

When the class ended, the two boys bid each other goodbye. Dean made his way to art class, where he once again sat next to Sam and Charlie.

"Alright everyone, today's work is as simple as yesterday's. You will be drawing a family member, or someone you consider family." Ms. Frye announced, fixing her glasses. "If you are in a complicated familial situation, just draw someone you wish were your family."
