Hello darkness my old friend
Where you been since we last met?
Been around, done this and that
Slept all day, been up all night.
Scared some kids, lurked under beds
Hung around, avoided light.
Good to meet with you again
Not done much exciting then?
Can't say much, it's best kept quiet
Happens in the dead of night
Covered up some shady stuff
Enough of that, I've said too much!
Well, well old friend what can I say?
Seldom see the light of day.
Seldom stray from out the shadows
Creep around, make scary sounds
But I sometimes have my moments
Times when folk like me around.
Caught you last week at the fireworks
Guess that's kind of thing you mean?
Be no light without you Darkness
You're the background set the scene.
Goodbye darkness my old friend
Great to meet with you again.
