Maria Lewis closed the front door of her apartment, sopping wet as she collapsed to the floor against the door. It was Sunday at two in the morning and her car had broken down five miles away from her apartment. There were no hotels nearby and no towing services were open that early, so Maria had stupidly decided to walk home. This would have been fine had it not started pouring thirty minutes into her walk. So now here she was, shivering and sopping wet against her front door, exhausted as all fuck and ruining her hardwood floor.
With a tremendous effort, Maria managed to stand up from her spot on the floor and walked to her bathroom. She ran a quick hot shower and quickly cleaned herself, the warm water pounding against her back much more relaxing than the bullets of ice cold water she had endured on her walk back to her apartment. She turned the shower off and stepped out, grabbing a towel which she wrapped around herself, despite being home alone at two AM. She then wrapped another towel around her head to keep her mess of wet curls from dripping all over the floor.
The storm outside was still raging furiously. The wind shrieked and along with that, branches beat against the windows in an endless cacophony of noise. Loud bursts of thunder could be heard every few seconds which seemed to shake the entire house. Alongside all of that chaos, lighting flashed a few times every minute, lighting up Maria's dark house for only seconds at a time, causing the furniture in her house to leave eerie shadows in the brief flashes of light.
Even though she knew it to be irrational, Maria couldn't help but feel like someone was watching her as she walked to her kitchen, still only wearing two towels. She attempted to flick on the lights, frustrated when they wouldn't turn on. "Goddamn power outage..." She cursed to herself, glaring at the light switch uselessly. With an aggravated sigh, she continued down the hall until she reached her kitchen, where she made herself a sandwich.
With her completed sandwich in hand, Maria turned around to go to her dining table, but instead let out a shriek. Standing behind her was a masked woman holding an aimed knife. Or at least, Maria assumed it was a woman. The figure lunged at Maria, barely giving her time to react. Maria managed to dodge and turned around to run away from the armed figure, but before she could even move, she felt something heavy push her to the ground. Once was on the ground, the figure sat on her, making it impossible for her to stand.
Maria flailed her arms around and tried to push the figure off her back futilely until she felt something cold press into the back of her neck. She went limp and her arms fell to her sides, her breathing becoming erratic as fear overtook her. "W-who are you?" She stammered out fearfully, her voice trembling with each syllable.
A small chuckle could be heard from the figure before Maria felt them shift. She felt a slight bit of relief when she felt the cool metal disappear from her neck. "I'm not supposed to tell you, but since I'm killing you," Maria shuddered in fear at those words, unnoticed by the figure sitting on her, "I guess I can tell you. The name's Peggy. Now princess, any last requests before I kill ya?"
Peggy smirked from where she was sitting on top of Maria as she absentmindedly twirled her knife around. Maria shifted uncomfortably before whimpering out: "You're an assassin right? Please... Please tell me who hired you to kill me?"
Peggy looked away from her knife and stopped twirling it, instead, she focused her attention on Maria curiously. "That's it? You just want to know who wants you dead? No pleading for your life or pointless bribery? No asking that I tell some loved one that you're sorry or cursing me to burn in Hell? You're a strange one my dear, I'll give you that much-" Peggy stared intently at Maria.
Maria softly shook her head and meekly explained the reasoning behind her simple request. "I've already accepted that I'm going to die, I know there's no point in begging for more time just to die some other day. And I have no loved ones to apologize to, all I had was my brother, James, but he's already dead. I have no reason to curse you, you're just carrying out your job, but I do want to know who's name I shall curse from the afterlife for ending my earthly career. I do not think my reasoning to be strange, more so it's just logical..."
Peggy looked at Maria, fascination shining in her hickory brown eyes. She was impressed by Maria's wisdom, shocked even. She smiled sadly, suddenly feeling guilty that she'd have to kill off this wisdom and beauty in its youth. "Well, you can't argue with that logic... If you really must know, the person who hired me to kill you was a young man by the name of Alexander Hamilton. I can't see why he'd want a perfect woman such as yourself dead, but he's paying handsomely and I need the money," Peggy explained, trailing off at the end of her short monologue.
Maria nodded along when she heard the name of the man who wanted her dead. Everything suddenly made sense to her. She had slept with him a few months back and in the morning threatened her that if word of their mistake ever got out, he would see to it that she died. She hadn't thought much of the event since it had occurred, it hadn't been that big of a deal to her. But going along with that process brought up the question: when had she spoken of their mistaken hookup? It didn't matter now she supposed, she had slipped up and was going to die because of it, which was stupid when you think about it. Mistakes happen, the penalty shouldn't have to be death.
A cough from Peggy interrupted Maria's inner turmoil, drawing her attention to the cold metal that was once again pressed against her neck. "You seem like a really good person, and had we met in different circumstances, we might have even been friends. But now I suppose it's too late. It's a shame really, I hate to kill you..." With those last words Peggy dug the blade deeper into the sensitive skin of Maria's neck and cut a large gap into the flesh. A large amount of scarlet blood began pouring from the open wound, staining Maria's hardwood floor and the towels she was still wearing.

I just got back from Hamilton
Yaaaaaaaaaay
I definitely prefer the original cast, but the tour cast wasn't that bad.
It was really fun, I got a program and a tote bag for school.
On the drive back my mom stopped by Burger King and we got fries and I got a chocolate shake because I was hungry. Then we stopped at a gas station and I got a king size KitKat and skittles, so life is good.
