Chapter 28:

I lug my suitcase up the gravel driveway to the front porch. The place Harry chose is incredible. It's not too big or grandeur, it's just a simple vacation house located on a quiet private beach. The porch wraps around the entirety of the house and there's a fire pit in the sand I can see from here.

I walk into the airy house and try to find a room left over considering I'm the last one inside. I see one at the end of the hallway with a sticky note on the door.

'For Rosie' it reads.

I open the door and it looks exactly like all the other rooms, but then I see the balcony peeking out from behind a curtain. Aw, Harry must have noticed that I spend most of my time out on the balcony in my room. That's so thoughtful. I place my suitcase on my bed and step onto the small balcony. It faces the ocean so I can see everyone messing around already.

Ashland and Harry both stand on the back porch trying to start the barbecue. Liam and Louis kick the football around while Dani and El sit in lounge chairs, now in bikinis, to the side trying to get a tan. Zayn and Perrie sit crisscross on beach towels just talking and intertwining their fingers. Niall stands by the shore doing some weird dance moves to try and make Nina laugh, which she is. Brooklyn brought Cody because apparantly they are a thing now and the two of them walk up and down the shoreline hand in hand.

And then Rosie stands alone on a balcony watching everyone like a weirdo.

I feel like everybody has somebody but me. Well, technically I could have somebody if I really wanted to...Ben. I mentally curse myself for having these thoughts again but I can't help it. I have anxiety about being alone. I can't explain it but ever since I was alone in a cement room for six months I can't stand the thought of it.

Maybe I could call him and hear him out. This time it could be different, I'll keep him on a very tight leash. If he messes up once I'll be done. What's the harm in one last shot? Surely there can't be much.

I'll call him now. It's decided. Crap, I gave Ashland my phone for her to hold. I guess I have to abandon my perch. I sigh and make my way outside to stop being antisocial.

"Hey Rose." Harry calls to me when I shut the door.

"Ew. Never call me that. I'll let it slide because of the room thing though, thank you." I say and he raises an eyebrow at me.

"Oh, the note. Yeah that wasn't me." He says and points to his left. I follow the direction he's pointing right to Niall. Of course it was him now that I think about it.

"Oh, right. Well, anyways, Ash I need my phone." I hold my hand out.

"Right this second?" She says, still trying to light the damn grill.

"Yes." I nod impatiently.

"Why? Your parents are in Japan where it's 3am and all of us are here. It can wait." She huffs.

"Ash I need to make a call." If she would just get off her arse and get my phone we'd be done.

"To who?" She puts her hands on her hips which catches Harry's attention.

"Nobody." I shrug nonchalantly.

"Who?" She says sternly. I don't think I've ever been able to win one of our standoffs and I certainly won't now.

"Fine, Ben." I huff, hoping she won't overreact.

She doesn't, Harry does.

"Fuck no! Nope. Never. Not again, sorry. Not happening. No." He crosses his arms.
